Need prayers please - Final update w/pics (graphic)
This will probably get moved to the pets board but oh well...
I need prayers...my 10 pound maltipoo was mauled by a german shepard mix last night. the dog's tooth perforated her stomach and they had to do emergency surgery to repair it. She has five horrible puncture wounds from the teeth and has three drains in the worst ones. They cut open her back and her belly to repair the damage. I saw her today and she looks so, so sad, she was crying but ate a little bit of turkey that I brought and gave me some kisses. We are not out of the woods until another two days...because of where the puncture is she's at risk of sepsis which will kill her. The worst part is that DH couldn't stay and had to fly back home this morning. I need to be here another four days at least and hoping I don't get fired for this.
There is a picture of my perfect Roxy in my profile. She is the sweetest dog in the world and this was an unprovoked attack. The worst part is that we were all here visiting for my mom's 60th birthday and we all watched the attack happen. It was so horrible - this dog had Roxy in her mouth and was throwing her around like a ragdoll. Thanks for prayers we need them.
Update - Tuesday
Roxy is doing well, still not eating though so they put her on IV food. The drains are good and everything is healing normally. Two more days and we'll know if she's going to make it but so far so good. I'm going to visit her this afternoon and try to get her to eat something. Hoping to bring her home to NY over the weekend. Thanks to everyone for the responses and FMs. It means so much to us.
Update - Wednesday
She's still doing well, no temperature spikes and seems comfy and alert. She ate a bunch of turkey for me. The vet said she might be released tomorrow night but will probably still have the drains in. She will definitely still have all the stitches (I want to count them today when I see her) and they'll have to be removed by our vet at home. She looks like Frankendog with all the stitches and tubes coming out of her lol. We will know tomorrow if she is out of the woods. Thanks again everyone.
Update - Saturday
Well, we were able to bring Roxy home on Thursday night. Yesterday afternoon I took her back to the vet to have the drains removed and although the wounds look really gross, she seems to be more comfortable. She wasn't using her back right leg at all but the vet said it might just be sore and we have to watch it. It seems to be a little better today though. DH is on his way here and we'll be driving home tomorrow finally. She is handling the meds well and is eating fine. I'm just so happy she's going to be ok. I will post pics on Monday after we get home. I just want to thank everyone again for all the well wishes and support. It helped so much.
Ok, final update - Roxy got her stitches out last night, the vet said he can't believe she survived this...she will make a full recovery. Thank you again to everyone...this board was a lifesaver to me and I hope no one ever has to experience such a tragedy. But she is a trooper...pics below, sorry so graphic.

My parents made the big move from LI to Kentucky about 5 years ago. My mom rides horses and bought a 107 acre horse farm. She wound up selling the barn, arena, etc. to her trainer and his wife (they have 2 little kids). There are 2 "farm dogs" owned by the trainer that have free roam of their property and my mom's property. One is totally sweet and loves Roxy. The other one thought... her job is to kill mice, vermin, etc here but we had introduced her to Roxy and we all thought it would be ok...but obviously it wasn't. Although DH and his brother really, really wanted to kill the dog last night its really not their decision and I talked them off the ledge so to speak. Unfortunately right now they are not ready to put her down although she is a dangerous dog that has gotten worse over the last few years....she has gone after other dogs and even cats especially that come near the two kids. Next thing that will happen is another kid will be playing and a kid will hit one of the "protected" kids and that will be that. I'm just so worried about by baby right now. I've seen DH tear up about things but never sob and break down but when I took him to the airport this morning he lost it. Thanks for the prayers.

Thanks everybody I am just here feeling so alone right now and so sad. my mom went to bed and I am thinking about Roxy in that hospital so scared and in pain. I need more vodka lol...
