Need Philly help
I'm planning a trip to Sesame Place and Philly for myself, DH and DS (2yo). The plan is to spend the 1st day at Sesame Place and then drive to Philly and spend 3 nights. In Philly the main things we want to do are see the basic historic sights (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall - DH has never been) and go to the Please Touch Museum. We may do a stadium tour of Citizens Bank Park too but that is not a must. So my trouble is what part of Philly should we stay in? I assumed we would stay in the heart of Philly but now I'm seeing some hefty daily charges for parking. We obviously need the car because we are going all over (and we have a 2yo). So should we stay outside the city and try to get a hotel with a parking lot? So confused and haven't been to Philly in awhile so I really don't know what's best. Thanks if you're still reading!

Re: Need Philly help
I live out side of philly. DH works in Center City which is right where the liberty bell is, stock exchange, etc. Parking is expensive. its similar to Manhattan in that area.
I believe North Philly is the area to stay away from.
I havent been into philly since we moved here 4 years ago

Do you know anything about Bensalem? Someone on Tripadvisor suggested the Hampton Inn there as a good choice between Philly and Sesame Place. Was thinking that may make sense since I think we are really only planning one day in the historic area (Sesane Place and Please Touch Museum the other 2 days). Just wondering if this is a good/safe area.

Re: Need Philly help
Go to the Franklin fountain. It's expensive ice cream and you only need to order one, but it's delicious.

I know you were asking another poster, but one of my friends lives in Bensalem. I've never been there...but from the way she describes it, it sounds like a very nice, safe town. Her bf lives in Philly, and she drives to him frequently, and I know it's not a bad drive at all.

Re: Need Philly help
We actually stayed in Jersey just over the bridge in mount laurel at a Wingate. It was much cheaper and had free parking. But we did have to pay for parking while in Philly.
