Need Larger Clothes!!!

Okay, I'm only 9 weeks, but I really need a few outfits in a larger size soon, mainly pants. My clothes were just getting too tight this week.

I'm a little worried I'm gaining too much, too fast, but I think it's mostly bloat and gas. Lovely.

Re: Need Larger Clothes!!!

My button popped out from my pants yesterday at work. That was a sign for me to get larger clothes. On average I'm a 12 I started buying size 14 pants around my 10th week and they are kind of getting snug. I've gained 5 pounds so far and I just entered my 4th month. Not sure if I should by size 16 pants or maternity pants. I'm not sure when to start that. So I hear you.

Today I'm wearing a buttoned down shirt that has more safety pins holding it together then buttons!!!

Don't even remind me, we are in the same boat.

But you MUST be happy, according to this board, it seems the majority like to embrace the fat and remind you that you are carrying a child and creating life.......so it must be amazing at all times.

It's not.........

I couldn't agree with you more. I am in my 38th week, and for the past um 8 1/2 months that I haven't been able to wear my regular clothes I tell DH "Im fat" and he says "no, you're pregnant"

Um, yes---I am pregnant, but I am still FAT! Chat Icon

I agree! I am happy that I'm pregnant. I'm 39, and we tried for awhile, so it's wonderful to finally be pregnant in one sense. I would just rather have the baby in my arms and skip all of this pregnancy stuff!

Everyone says the 2nd trimester is great, so I'm hoping that's true...

Re: Need Larger Clothes!!!

I went and got maternity clothes at 10wks because all of my buttons were popping open.....I started out as a size 2 and by week 10 I had to buy a size 8 dress......so I decided to move into maternity.....

Also, some say the "bloat" goes away.... for me it went right from bloat into baby belly!!!! It never went down, so I was glad I bought the maternity clothes early!!!!

Re: Need Larger Clothes!!!

I had a similar problem - even though I didn't really gain any weight until 12 weeks, none of my clothes fit starting around 10 weeks. I bought the bella band and was able to keep wearing my normal clothes with it until 15 weeks. And now I wear it with maternity clothes that are too big - GREAT investment!

Get the bella band. You can still wear your regular pants you just don't need to button them.

I went for maternity clothes around my 9-10th week...I was so happy I did...they offer a stretch and it really makes it much more easy to wear pants! Go for it--embrace it...you are pregnant!

Re: Need Larger Clothes!!!

I feel your pain. I'm 11 weeks and I started to unbutton my pants on my size 8's last week. My 10's fit, but I'll have to move to the 12's soon.

So glad I saved some of my bigger clothes. I haven't worn them in a while, but I saved them for this.

The constipation really isn't helping either. My stomach changes based on when I can go to the bathroom. Chat Icon

Yeah, mine is always larger by the end of the day. It's not flat in the morning, but much smaller. My clothes always feel tighter going home...too bad I can't wear sweats to work. That would be perfect!

I can't embrace it after i couldn't get a pair of capris 2 dress sizes bigger over my bum! I didn't expect them to close, but to not even get over my bum was quite upsetting Chat Icon

I felt the same way in the beginning & it was bloat. It went away for a little bit & then came back in the 2nd tri when I popped.

I concur as well. I got the band from motherhood, not the original bella band (couldnt find that one) anyway, it has given 2 wks in my clothes so far where my legs n butt fit but my stomach wont. I LOVE this b/c its too early to get maternity clothes for me and i dont want to waste the money. :)

Re: Need Larger Clothes!!!

It could be bloat.

I had to wear maternity clothes since 8 wks. Pants would not zip anymore. Well, it was not bloat for me neither was it fat. I lost weight in my 1st trimester. I am mostly belly and I started to show right away. Everybody carries differently. Mine was gradual, no HUGE pop.

You need to realize- this is BLOAT, not fat. This is the reason everyone is a total "gas bag" in the first trimester.....

Nobody is telling you you MUST feel anything. However, try to realize that your body is going to carry this baby the way it's meant to. Some women gain weight all over, some just have a belly, and others fall somewhere in the middle.

Additionally, I don't see where anyone is embracing being FAT- they are embracing the fact that they're body is changing because they are growing their child. Also- MOST "weight gain" is caused by edema (water retention) which is why we often times feel smaller in the morning (and the cankles disappear until later that day).

My SIL watched what she ate and took spin classes 3 times a week up til one month before her delivery- and still got big all over. Me? I had a rough first trimester and never got back into working out. I also have had a hard time laying off the sweets. However, my weight gain isn't nearly as noticeable-although I gained the same amount so far.

It's hard to accept the changes, as they happen SO fast. When else does a person's body put on 25 to 50 pounds in just a few short months? Perhaps I got through the feelings of hugeness by reminding myself WHY my body is gaining weight- there is a boilogical reason for all the swelling that goes way beyond Oreos and chicken wings.

Sorry to hijack the thread- but wanted to explain why I embrace by my new body......

ITA. I look BIG but I really did not put on that much weight. Everybody carried differently. Just try to eat healthy. Change in your body is inevitable. As long as you make healthy choices for you and your baby, watch your portion control...that's what matters. If you put on too much weight your dr. will tell you. Chat Icon

Sometimes the feeling I get on here is that I should be happy that my body is changing in ways I don't really enjoy. It doesn't mean I am less happy about becoming a mother, but it also means I don't need to feel guilty for not being ecstatic about it.
Not everyone LOVES being pregnant and everything that comes with it, as evidenced by an entire post dedicated to not loving being pregnant.

I am not an unhealthy eater, and I go to the gym regularly. I am pretty fortunate that I don't have m/s, so I know that I am in a better position than most.
But I really don't need to be made to feel guilty because I dislike the fact that my body is changing.
Just like everyone's body carries pregnancy differently, everyone has their own feelings about BEING pregnant, and mine just happen to be that I can't wait for my body to be back to being mine.
Maybe I will feel differently as time progresses, maybe I won't, but I guess I should keep it to myself from now on.
I am very sensitive to the way I look as well, so that may be a factor in my feelins, but Ireally don't enjoy the guilt trip.

I apologize for making you feel guilty- that truly wasn't my intent. I was trying to help you understand that you are not getting fat. Most of the weight gain in early pg is water weight.

If you look at at my earlier posts, I was feeling the same way- we all do- and we all post about it.

Perhaps I got my back up because you made such a sweeping generalization about "the majority" on the board "embracing the fat". And that we feel "it must be amazing at all times". Considering the crap many of us have been through and posted about between morning sickness, cysts, surgeries, fibroids, sciatica, canlkes and weight gain, I can guarantee that NO one is saying pregnancy must be amazing at all times....

I never implied you were not happy about being pregnant, sorry you took it that way.Chat Icon

Re: Need Larger Clothes!!!

I had to buy maternity jeans by 9 weeks, I was that uncomfortable! Plus, sweats everyday is NOT good for your mental state!

I will tell you, at my last appointment (11+ weeks), I had only gained 1 pound, so don't be freaked by having to move up a size already! I don't think it means anything!
