Need kid friendly bathroom solution

Our 1/2 bath which is tiny, really just a powder room is just painted-no tile, nothing. And after a few years of my DD washing her hands after going potty the painted walls are a nightmare. They always look dirty from splashing, etc and now I notice the paint is actually peeling underneath where the towel hangs. We don't have the money for a bathroom renovation (ala tile). My mother suggested wallpaper. I'm not usually a fan but if this will be more functional for the water then I will do it. Do we just re-paint with a glossier finish and plan to redo every couple of years? I was hoping maybe wainscotting? on the bottom half but not sure we'd be able to cut it or install it ourselves-

Help!

I'd probably just repaint every couple of years so it looks clean.

A new can of paint is also pretty inexpensive.

We have wallpaper in our kitchen from previous owner, because we can't afford to upgrade right now, and it shows EVERYTHING.

Wainscotting is also pretty easy to do. DH has done this in less than a day.

I would do a glossy paint. Even if you buy the most expensive paint it would probably be $50 for the whole project, so doing it every year or two is no big deal.

there are bands that make washable paints, all glossy paint is washable, but we use a matte paint that is fabulous at it too. Its on the pricey side (BM Aura)

We use it in our kitchen, and scrub with mr clean magic eraser

I would do a washable eggshell finish paint. From then on magic eraser is fine. Wall paper peels when moisture gets underneath it so I would not put up wall paper as you will have the same problem. If you want a design you could stencil or put up a peel and stick design.

personally this is why I like high gloss paint on walls. you can wash it without harming the paint. also, fingerprints and little marks don't stay they would on a matte finish paint.

I have high gloss in all my rooms. much easier to maintain.
