Need help with menu for a dinner party
I'm having a dinner party Saturday night,
DH & I & four of our favorite couples.
We do DPs with them pretty often.
This time I'm doing a "French Kiss" theme
so far on the menu I have
french bread
cheese fondue
french onion soup
potatoes au gratin
French wine
champagne, strawberries & chambord
desert crepes
chocolate fountain
I was thinking some sort of roast as the main course and i need a veggie
Any ideas?

Instead of a roast, maybe do a Boeuf bourguignon it's a classic French recipe! And marries so well with the French bread and onion soup!
A favorite of mine is Chicken Fricasee - with a nice rich, creamy broth that can be sopped up with the bread. Yum.
And then there is always classic Coq au vin.
For veggies...
You could do some artichokes with a buerre citron sauce. Yum! Or a spinach souffle! If you are doing a nice elegant meal, I'd probably just steam some tender asparagus, a few baby carrots and maybe a few string beans - bundle them with a little ribbon of carrot and drizzle a French vinaigrette over it.
God.. now I'm craving French food.
I say pull out your copy of Mastering the Art of French Cooking and you will suddenly have a TON of inspiration.

oh wow, you guys are awesome! So many great suggestions that I hadn't thought of!
