I knew I wanted an Italian Country feel. Warm but vibrant colors. I went with terra cotta colored tile floors, terra cotta colored walls. Two tone cabinets and light colored granite.
Do you want formal or casual, country or shabby chic, traditional or modern? What colors are the rooms immediately off the kitchen?

thank you for helping me!!
we have a very small kitchen.. so traditional is probably what we would be doing..
the color off the kitchen is beige...
now i am thinking of maybe like a sage green color? it seems like it would look good against a cherry cabinet.. ? not sure..

Get a bunch of those paint swatches from the store and tape them all over your kitchen. See which one your eye keeps going to.
For floor - definitely go with tile. It will hold up much better than wood.
My DHs aunt has a great floor - it's slate-y, with some coppery accents - so it shimmers in some places. It's gorgeous. I'm going to steal it for my backsplash.
Check out Home Depot and Lowes for some floor tile - they have a really nice selection... Or you can check out the clearance tile at Procida or Crown or a tile place....
With sage - since it's a green gray color, I'd go with gray tile floors.

HGTV.com is VERY HELPFUL, iv. Go to "decorate", then "rate my Space" then click on "most viewed or top" ! good luck!

One of my friends just remodeled her kitchen. Also has cherry and granite. Walls are ivory/champange, granite is almost black with green "highlights", backsplash is a dark champange tumbled marble with a row of green and brown and beige glass tiles in between. Floors are larger tiles and similar to the backsplash (but I don't think they're marble).

I have some pictures of my cherry cabinets and new kitchen remodel in my kitchen - I also have a very small kitchen. I used Swan Kitchen Tile and Bath they were a lot cheaper than Home Depot.
