Need help - OPK questions
So I'm getting all antsy b/c I don't know if I missed the boat:
Yesterday OPK - almost matching lines This morning OPK - 2 matching lines (7am)
Took another at 7pm when I got home and now the line is very faint.
Am I too late Originally we were gonna rule out this month b/c DH is on medication but last night I convinced him to at least try and we agreed tonight if he was feeling better. I was so excited about the 2 matching lines but now I'm not sure.

Re: Need help - OPK questions
Two things - the lines don't necessarily get darker as you get closer to Oing. Common misconception. Unlike pregnancy tests that get darker each day as you have have more HCG in your system, the OPK is testing for luteinizing hormone (LH) and you will have a SURGE when are going to O. So today you could have an almost matching line, tomorrow no line, the next day a faint line, then a +, etc. Doesn't matter "how negative" it is, just whether or not it's negative or positive.
Second - the OPK is considered + when your test line is AS dark or darker than the control line. So if you had matching lines, that's a positive!!!!
Get to BDing!!!!!

LOL!!! Thank you! I learned a LOT from the women on here and through reading TCOYF. I've also read online different things. I figure it's better to be prepared and have a good idea going into it than starting and then feeling crazed and overwhelmed (which is how I would feel personally).

Re: Need help - OPK questions
ok, i'm going to post this question on this thread, since we're already on the subject
I took an OPK this morning and it looks like it's pretty much matching, tho not exactly. The line is thick and all the way on the right of it, it matches the control line, but it seems to fade as it spreads to the left side. Do you get what I mean? I tried taking a picture, but it just won't focus on camera
What do you think?? Is it a positive, or no?

Well, they say if ANY part of the test line is as dark or darker than the control line, it's positive!!!! So I would say you need to hop in the sack and BD! Ok, not that dramatic, but make sure to BD today and for the next two days. Keep testing JUST in case.

ok. It was strange because i got that maybe "positive" on the OPK for my FIRST TIME EVERRRRR and yet still nothing on the Fertile Focus Microscope (since they say that I might have O'd much earlier this cycle) So I'm not sure if it's really a positive or not, but I think we will BD just in case (since I am on CD14 anyhow). Can't hurt to try
Thank you for getting back to me on that. I'll continue to test anyhow - just in case.

Re: Need help - OPK questions
would it be over kill to use the microscope and teh POAS OPK? If you did both it would be interesting to see the different readings.

Re: Need help - OPK questions
Well - it didn't work out as planned. DH was really not feeling well and I started feeling guilty and selfish bc he wanted to make me happy We might tr again tonight depending on how he is doing but I'm worried its too late. I got my two lines early yesterday so I'm thinking I already O'd. Plus - I have had hardly any CM which I usually ALWAYS get. Y is it that when I'm most attuned to my body it starts doing things out of the norm

yeah, that's what I've been doing since CD10. I would do both the microscope and OPK every morning before work. At first the microscope was showing that i was about to ovulate on CD10 & 11, but then it stopped on CD12 (leading me and the manufacturers to wonder if I O'd earlier than CD10). But the OPK kept giving me negatives all along, until this morning. That's what's odd. I got a positive OPK today on CD14, but negative on the microscope. I dunno. I'm going to try to BD tonight anyhow just in case. We'll see. If in 2 weeks I still get a BFN, then i'm going to have to start testing with BOTH on CD8
