Need advice please. Update: I made the call!
So, you may remember that I saw my OB for my annual visit as well as a discussion of what's going on re: almost a year of TTC with no success. He gave me a prescription for 7dpo bloodwork as well as my DH a prescription for a sperm analysis. He also told us he could do the very basic testing...which I took to mean the tests we already have scheduled as well as CD3 bloodwork and HSG test. He also said I qualify to see a specialist at this point. My DH is going for the SA on Friday and I'll be doing my test next Monday. Soooo...
If you were so inclined to call an RE, would you make the call today or wait until next week once the results come in from the tests. My regular OB can also (as I've written) give me prescriptions for the next round of tests and also, by the end of next week I should know whether this cycle is a winner or a loser.
I'm just so torn and I think the main reason is because I'm already a mother. I just feel like all the RE staff are going to be thinking, "Lady, get over it; you're so greedy. This place is for people with real problems." I just feel very foolish  ...

You shouldnt feel foolish at all!! It is nobody's business but you and your DH's.
I know with my OB i have to book a month in advance to see her. I guess it all depends on your DR's schedule. If the RE will take you right away then I will wait, if she is always booked I would book soon.

I wouldn't wait......it can't hurt to call the RE now and make an appt. You can always cancel it if need be. Trust me........NOBODY on staff will think you are greedy. Everyone goes out of their way to be kind and compassionate and to try and get you pregnant. I had to see an RE to have my DD and now we are back at the RE TTC #2 and everyone in the office was excited to see us again and excited we were trying for another. If you need help getting pregnant then you need help and it doesn't matter if you're TTC your first baby or your 8th!!.........everyone at the RE is their to help and nobody would consider you "greedy". Good luck with everything!

Call now. There is nothing to be gained in waiting. And so WHAT if you are selfish (which I don't think you are  )... you're a good mommy and you want to give some love to another child. There is nothing wrong with that! Secondary infertility is very real and very heartbreaking and no one should have to suffer through it.

I would call now to make an appointment. The RE may not have an opening for a couple of weeks, and if you need to, you can always cancel the appointment. And you should not feel like you don't belong at an RE just because you have one child already. Everyone deserves help TTC, whether it's your first or fifth! Good luck!

After much internal debate, I made an appt. for a consultation at NSUH for 2/3. Whew...that's done. Here's hoping the coming 2WW gives me a reason to cancel however...

I am very happy to see that you called. I too am already a mother but just had to deal with secondary infertility. NSUH helped me to conceive and I am now 8 weeks pregnant! The issue was my husband and we probably just got a little lucky the first time around. There is no reason to wait - it's so hard to get the appt anyways, there is no harm in calling. Good luck!

I am also already a mother, and going through secondary infertility and seeing an RE. I don't think it's selfish AT ALL to do what it takes to conceive another child. Best of luck to you!!
