Need advice on walking shoes
Ok so my DD is getting very close to walking. Day Care said it's time for her to start wearing hard soled shoes. Naturally, I assumed I'd go to Stride Rite but now some other mothers are telling me that any sneakers will do. Other swear by Stride Rite. some say their kids wear Nike sneakers. She currently wears Robeez all the time.
What do you think? I am so confused!
TIA!
ETA - I want to put Robeez as a poll option but I can't edit the poll???

Re: Need advice on walking shoes
Is she actually walking yet? Putting her in stiff, hard-soled shoes can actually make it harder for her to walk. I still keep my 15 month old (he's been walking for several months) in Robeez a lot of the time.
He has Stride Rite sneakers -- they're good becuase they are flexible. Look for a flexible shoe -- Stride Rites, Pedipeds, Robeez (they just came out with a new type called Trendz which are better for outdoor use).

My almost 15 month old still wears Pedipeds. I am going to take her to Stride Rite to get her measured and buy a good pair to have when we go to FL in a couple of weeks. You're probably fine with sneakers. I wanted to take DD to Stride Rite to get her measured correctly.

DD has been walking for a couple months. She wears Robeez at daycare and rubber-soled shoes outside. At home, she's in socks or barefoot.
I've heard it's good for kids to have soft-soled shoes when they are young so they learn balance.

She's been wearing Robeez since she was a baby but daycare said to get her hard soled shoes. Not sure what to do....

Are they taking her outside? If not, I don't see why she can't wear her Robeez. Honestly, DS was just wearing socks to daycare until late fall when I started putting him in Robeez everyday.
Now I'll put him in Robeez or his Stride Rites. They go the gym, but he can wear his Robeez there, so it really just depends on our mood when we dress him.
Maybe it's their opinion that walking babies need hard-soled shoes?
