Need advice on how to get started
DH and i have been trying since last month (this month is #2). i havent used anything to pinpoint my ovulation.
ive been on BC for 8 or so years and when i came off i got my period after 33 days. i started to temp but i kinda fell off the wagon with that. i need to get started again. i think i should be ovulating sometime this past week.
any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. im not sure if i should invest in the predictor kits or not. how do they work? do i have to keep buying stuff for it?
and a quick side note....ever since we've been thinking about baby, i seem to see pregnancy everywhere...in real life, tv, on the radio *****. does that happen to anyone else?

Welcome to the World of TTC! Unfortunately, every time I see things I think it's a sign FOR ME. Don't do that! I've learned over the past few months you can convince yourself of ANYTHING!
I use OPK's and I do recommend them along with temping. You can use fertilityfriend.com to track your cycles for free.
Good luck!

I highly suggest using opks, clearblue digitals work great. I use it along with my clearblue fertility monitor. I don't temp but its the best way to see if you ovulated so they say. Learn your body and listen to it. Check your CM and I know when I'm ovulating I get the pain and I'm extremely hot for DH. Long story short invest in opks so you can pinpoint the time to get busy!

Hey. We got pregnant the first time using OPK's. I didn't temp but I did bd every other day all month and then bd everyday when I got a positive OPK. I know people say to do less, but we did it as much as he could take it I recently miscarried but will start again hopefully this summer!
Have fun and good luck this month

My suggestion would be to start off slow. You can really overwhelm yourself if you go all "gung ho" right away.
I never was on bc, so my cycles are very regular. I started by keeping track of my cycles online and monitoring CM. Then after a couple of months I added the OPK's. Then we had to take a break bc I was getting WAY too obsessive and it was interfering with my every day life, not to mention putting a lot of stress on our relationship.
We decided in Feb to get back on the horse and I now am on my 3rd month using the CBEFM. I've found that adding a little something every month or so to our TTC methods is helping me to feel a little more in control.
I might also recommend reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". Lots of girls have read this book and its very informative.
Good Luck and remember that although you will see a lot of women who get lucky on their first shot - TTC can take a lot of time and patience.

Re: Need advice on how to get started
OPKs will help you to predict when you will O. You usually O 12-36 hours after getting a positive OPK. They don't, however, confirm that you actually did O. Only temping can confirm O. If you really want to jump head in on TTC, you might want to consider both methods so you can BD on your fertile days (when you get a positive OPK) and then confirm that you actually did O with your temps.
And like a PP said, Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book to read!
Good luck!!
