Need advice from those w/ DC w/ Peanut Allergy

Hi Ladies!

Quick question - I bought a mixed bag of wrapped candies to give to the kids at my daughter's daycare for Valentine's Day.

The bag included Hershey's Bars, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and Kit Kat.

I found out that there is one child with severe peanut allergies in the class, so obviously I'm not going to bring in any of the Peanut Butter Cups.

My question is, is it still okay to give out the other candies from that same bag? I'm not an expert at all on peanut allergies and I don't want to put the child in any risk at all?

I thought since all the candies were wrapped it would be okay but I'm not sure and want to check?

Thanks!

I would not trust anything that was in the bag with the peanut butter cups. I'm also not sure of wherher or not kitkats are safe. Plain Hershey chocolatue is ok, but not if it was un a bag with Pb.

I wouldn't hand out any of that candy. My DD has a peanut allergy and we are lucky that her allergy isn't so severe. She'd break out with a rash on her face but she doesn't experience the difficulty breathing that many kids do.

On the other friend she has a friend with a VERY severe peanut allergy. If anything is packaged closely to the peanut products --- she will have a reaction and her airways close up. We have to be careful to read all labels --- if it says "Packaged in a facility that processes peanuts and other nut products" then she can not have it at all.

Most schools are against handing out candies anyway at this point. What about going to Target or the Dollar store and getting some pencils, erasers, stickers, tattoos and handing them out instead?
