Re: Need a good excuse...
not feeling well? Digestive issues? (no one wants more info than "digestive issues")
anything else would need to be an emergency.
You could go Marsha Brady "Something suddenly came up"

Re: Need a good excuse...
I've used "my super called and there's a bad leak coming from my apartment. I need to go home to investigate..." or some other home repair emergency issue. It worked.

I would definitely go the stomach issues route - no one wants details of that!

Re: Need a good excuse...
I think the tummy virus can totally come back and you can make mention that you just can't get rid of it. Do you have a pet? You have to go home to the sick pet?

A friend of mine actually said that very same thing in a meeting - JUST to get a reaction from our stuck up boss
You could say you already made other plans - end of story! You have a life!!

That's a good one! I'll have to add that into my repertoire.
What about your alarm in your house is going off and you have to go home - thats a good super last minute emergency excuse.

How about just saying, "I can't go..." If they understand then GREAT, if they don't, then who cares.
How about a migraine? I get those FREQUENTLY and I'd hate to jinx things, but how could they really tell if you do/don't have one?
