I don't think it's bad. Personally, as long is it doesn't spell out somethng bad or inappropriate, I think it's fine.

At my old job one of the attorneys would bill as A.S.S. - and the sad part was that she really was an ---.
No I don't think so - some of the names we are thinking about come out as KEG -

One of my son's initials will be ARM. I thought it was so cute. I didn't realize it at first. the other will be MEM. After I chose their names I wanted the second set of initials to be a word also but it didn't work out with the names we chose.

Those are FINE! One of the girls on LIW (I forget who!) pointed out that her initials were V.D. And her brother's are
S.T.D.
