My Update after today's doctor's appointments!
So, going into today, I was on bedrest and on Procardia. I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow. My cervix was 2.6 last week. I was supposed to go to to the hospital this evening to get my first of 2 steroid shots.
BUT... my cervix lengthened to 2.9! My perinatologist strongly believes that - at this point - I will make it to 39 weeks!  He is going to gradually lower my Procardia dosage and let me increase my activity a bit. Not so far as to go back to work yet, but to walk and sit more. He will measure the cervix again next week to see how that works out. But his milestone week is getting to 34 weeks, which is tomorrow! And he said that labor is not imminent.
As for the steroids to aid in the baby's lung development, he did not see a need for them in light of all of the above! I asked about any risks, and he said that he did read a study that says that steroids can possibly lead to diabetes for the "baby" after 30 years of age. He also said there's a study that says it can affect the baby's stress coping abilities. He believes there IS a place for them in babies that look like they'll come early, but not in my case.
And... WOW... our son is weighing in at a whopping 6 pounds 3 ounces - 88th percentile! He's preparing me for an over 9 pound baby!!! 
My OB thinks that since this will be "one heck of a big baby", I should be prepared for a c-section, which I'm not opposed to. He said the concern is the baby's shoulders getting stuck on the way out, which could God forbid cause a problem. I want whatever is best for the baby, so c-section is probably the way we'll go.

YAY for the good news...but My Dr was SURE that my baby was just under 9lbs, she measure big at EVERY growth sono I had...I was induced 9 days late, and when she didn't decend, they assumed it was b/c she was so big, and I wound up with a c-section... came out at 7lbs, 1oz...I heard they are usually wrong about the baby's size...

Glad to hear the good news! They told me at 37 weeks that DD was about 6.5 pounds, she came out a week later at 8 lbs and a huge head! They can be wrong both ways about baby's size.

Great news!!! So happy to hear.
DS#1 got stuck and I needed a c/s...he was est low 9s, but weighed in at 10-2...so it's good you have an open mind.
