My Update - Updated

This was my third IVF cycle
I was trying to stay low key this cycle, but things went horribly wrong so I decided it was time to share. We used a lower stim protocol to make sure my estrogen didn’t shoot up too much so that I would be able to do a fresh transfer. I had lots of good looking follicles. This past Wednesday, my Grandma passed away and that was the same day as the Lupron trigger. I went for the bloodwork the following day to make sure the trigger worked, and it failed. Dr.B thinks the trigger failed because of my emotional state. I had to go for bloodwork the following two days to make sure my estrogen fell, so I could trigger with hcg. I triggered with hcg on Saturday night, and my retrieval was scheduled for Monday. I woke up Monday and I knew something was off because I wasn’t crampy like I usually am before retrieval. Anyway, they got four eggs. I had at least 45 follicles and there were only 4 eggs. The embryologist said those 4 didn’t look good. I cried to anyone that would listen. When I came out from the anesthesia and my husband said there were only 4 eggs, I was sobbing. My pulse was 212. Everyone at Dr. Batzofin’s office was so helpful and nice. Anyway, Dr. B thinks there were so few eggs because my last estrogen level was really low, so the receptors on the follicles died off. I just spoke to him again and 1 fertilized.

I just don’t know what to do anymore. I’m basically out of insurance coverage. Even with the coverage, this cyle cost us a lot of money. We don’t have it anymore. I’ve turned into a total basketcase. I don’t know who to believe or what I should do. Now I just feel like I was hit by a truck because they went into all 45 follicles and I have nothing to show for it.
I know I kind of breezed over it, but my Grandma’s death has been overwhelming and it was so difficult going through this while planning her funeral and saying goodbye. This has just been a horrible week.

4/20/11 - My one lone embryo arrested. All of the appointments, shots, and money were for nothing. Again.

I don't even know what to say. I feel so horrible!!

It must be so hard to deal with the stress of this cycle and grieve for your grandmother at the same time. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Does your DH have any insurance to carry you through future cycles?

I have been thinking of you since Saturday. I am trying to find comforting words… you know they say:when it rains, it poors. But they also say, :"this too shall pass". I am so sorry for this difficult time on your life, N and I pray very hard that it passes soon. One little follie that fertilized is in my prayers. I KNOW it will all work out for you, I just know it. I do not know what else you will have to deal with to get to your goal, but I will be praying very very hard for you. Please FM me any time

I don't even know what to say! I am so sorry for your loss of your grandmother. We had to cancel a cycle when my husbands grandfather passed cause we had to leave town. It made it hurt so much more :(. I hope you start to feel better really soon. Im going to send you fm.

I am so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. It's so difficult to handle all of the things in our lives on top of the IF issues.

I was wondering last night if you had your retrieval as planned. I can't believe you have to deal with such an upsetting day along with the loss of your Grandmother last week.

45 follies seems a lot, especially for a low stim protocol. Do you have PCOS i am sorry I, i forgot what your issues were.

I do have PCOS. We also have severe male factor issues.

I will transfer the one on Thursday if it makes it.
