My son has NO common sense.
Ugh! Please tell me if anyone can relate... LOL!
My 8 year old is very bright, but no common sense. He'll be going into 3rd grade. I swear I'm lucky he can walk, but half the time looks at me like I have 2 heads when I tell him something. He recently started riding his bike with no training wheels, but doesn't even look around to make sure there are no cars.
He does have some receptive delays he did outgrow some, but still I keep telling him he's 8... pay attention. LOL! His 5 year old brother has to explain things to him sometimes.

Same and my son will be 10 in October! He also had some delays growing up but while he's very smart, intelligent and a wiseass at times, other times I'm like are you serious?? lolo

Re: My son has NO common sense.
Thank you! Yes! I feel bad for his future wife too. He has no clue. Even just before we were at the mall and the boys got smoothies. He's like... where's the straw? I tell him in front of him. Then he's like... can I have it? Yes... you can drink it Mason. You don't have to ask. That's why I bought it.
Then when we were leaving he's like... where's the garbage? Again, just look around Mas and they're all over. Finally he sees one and asks if he can throw it away. Ugh! I tell him all the time... Mas, you're 8. You can just do it. You don't have to tell me everything.

Re: My son has NO common sense.
I think it's just their gender as a whole. LOL Yesterday, we got to the store and my son says "oh, mom, I forgot to put on my shoes." What? Who does that? How do you leave the house, walk across my baking black top driveway, get in the car and not know you don't have your shoes on?

DS once left for vacation without any shoes! We had to stop and buy him shoes on the way! DD is younger and got all the street smarts and just and tries to steer him the right way.

doesn't change when they are older. I tell DH to pack when we go on vacation. Every time he asks me why I didn't pack sneakers/shoes I look at him and say why didn't I? I told you to pack what you needed.

Oh that could be a topic on a whole different thread...Things DH blames you for that are actually HIS responsibility.
We went to a party the other day in an area that I am not familiar with (but he is!). There is a beach a little ways from where we were and he wanted to go swimming. We started walking and I realized we forgot the diaper bag so I ran back. When I went back, the host told me it was too far of a walk and to drive. So I got in the car and went to go find them but they were gone. Oh, also cell phone service was poor. I finally get him and they are lost. I find them. He was berating me that I sent them out with wrong directions and I wanted them to get lost. WHAAAA???? Maybe if it was DH by himself, that would be believable because he's annoying but with my 3 kids? I don't think so. 1. Why don't you know where you are going before you lead the pack? 2. How is it my fault you are the anti-Magellan?
Sorry to go off topic LOL

We went to a communion in NJ - dh left his suit hanging on the back of our closet. We went to a wedding in DR I gave dh the list of what he needed since it was an all inclusive he needed closed toed shoes for one of the restaurants. We get there and he asked where his shoes were. Um I had to pack for myself and our 1 yr old, plus I was the MOH. Went to a wedding in RI - dh left his dress shoes in NY
It drives me crazy. He manages a 15 person team but can't pack for himself.
