my pants dont fit! what to do?

I gained about 15 pounds from IF treatments, so I looked pregnant way before I ever got pregnant! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Now all the weight is concentrated in my bellly and all the dresses I've been wearing all summer (since pants are my enemy) are shorter! I'm only about 5 weeks and not ready to buy any new clothes. I saw that band thingie in Target but I'm not even sure if I'll be able to get my pants over my big butt plus I dont know how I'll feel with my pants unzipped all day long. Also, my belly is super sore from daily shots so I'm not sure if that would exacerbate it.

I think my only other option is maternity leggings since all those maternity pants look like they might be too big. I looked for the first time in target today and everything was huge looking. Or should I buy more dresses even though its going to get cold soon? Any recomendations appreciated! TIA

Re: my pants dont fit! what to do?

i hated the belly band from target... hated having the feeling of my pants unzipped and i always felt like it exposed my back when I would bend over, and then it wouldn't fit right when i stood or sat up and i was always adjusting it. just thinking about it is making my skin crawl, i hated it so much!!

ummm sorry about that!
anyway to answer your question, go with maternity pants that are not full panel. full panel ones will not fit for awhile but the ones that are made to sit below the belly should be perfect. go to old navy. i was in maternity pants around 8 weeks because that's what was most comfortable for me - and comfort is most important. especially when you're sore from injections (i remember my sister went through that).

After IVF I was so bloated I wore leggings for the first 9 weeks and then by 10 weeks I was in full maternity pants. The good news is the same pants I wore at 10 weeks fit me at 28 weeks.

My belly also decided to grow before I was ever pregnant. Everywhere else I'm pretty petite. So my pants have been pretty tight for the last year and now it's just getting worse and uncomfortable since I'm almost 9 weeks. I went to the outlets and got some bigger nonmaternity pants to hold me over. Old navy had 40% off the whole outlet and Deer Park even has a maternity section. Gap outlet also had pants 50% off this week. I figure it's not a bad investment since chances are I'll need the bigger size after I'm pregnant too.

Target Maternity runs big. I bought one shirt when I was PG with DS, and I couldn't wear it until I was 8 months pregnant.

I used the band with DS, since like you I didn't want to buy any maternity summer clothes and my clothes where just starting to get tight at the end of the summer. I wasn't crazy about it. It would ride up on me and you could see my pants unbuttoned if I wore anything like a tank top. You really have to wear loose shirts with it.
Maybe just get one or two dresses and some leggings but not from target. Gap maternity fits really well, especially when you don't have much of a belly yet. Try there half panel jeans. They fit really well and you will be so much more comfortable.

I'm 12 weeks and still fitting into my pants, but not comfortably. I'm just about to cave and buy new clothes.

Belly Band and leggings. If it is just in your tummy area the maternity pants will tend to slide down once you begin to walk. Even if the belly band helps for a week or two, it will be worth it to feel comfy, but I think you will get more use out of it than that.
