My own PSA about smoke alarms and replacing them..
Our smoke alarm went off at 1 AM this morning. It was blaring. We went to check it, we did not smell fire or smoke. Walls were cool. It turns out our unit needed to be replaced. I read the fine print in the back and it says to replace after 10 years. Ours was 13 years old. Please Please Please change the smoke alarm every 10 years regardless if it does not do this. I am thankful this is all that it was. I called the company that manufactured it and they said this too, the sensor went after 10 years. I have a migraine from the blaring noise, lack of sleep , and being aggravated at 1 AM ,but it could have been alot worse. Just an FYI.

You're supposed to change them when you change the clocks...
I am switching over to a central monitored one with Slomins on 1/5. Does anyone know if those take batteries or if they're hooked up electrically?
