my milk supply is decreasing...what can i take to get it back?
I remember reading a few posts about something you can take to increase your milk supply but I can't remember the name. I've ebf for 7 months and all if a sudden my supply drastically dropped. There is enough for him to eat but it takes forever to come back. Iused to pump and fill up bags and now I barely get 1/4 of a bag. Any advice? I was really hoping to make it to a year.

You can take fenugeek to help your supply. I noticed a dip around that time too, it just got harder to pump and it was frustrating. I rented a symphony and that helped a lot. Make sure to drink lots of water too!
DD turns 1 tomorrow and we made it to 11.5 months and that was when I started mixing whole milk in her bottles. My Supply went up and down once she started eating three meals a day.
Good luck!!

Have you had your 1st AF since the baby? My supply went wayyyyyyyyy down and I could not figure out why, and then 3 days later AF showed up. It did recover some, but not like it was. I never found anything but extra pumping and pumping for longer really worked for me.

Fenugreek that was it. Thank you. And nope no AF yet. I hope that's not it...its kinda nice not having to worry about that every month. But if it makes my supply come back ill take it. I've tried extra pumping and pumping for longer but nothing comes out.

fenugreek helps, also eating oats, and drinking a beer. I have a combination of the 3 every day and it really makes a difference. or I should say I notice a huge difference is I dont do 1 of the 3

Are you working or just pumping for a freezer stash?
Keep in mind that the amount that you pump doesn't = your supply. The baby is more efficient than the pump (esp at 7 months!) and your body has definitely regulated and will make what the baby eats. As long as the baby is pooping and hitting milestones, your supply is probably fine.
Are you drinking enough water? That always made a huge difference for me. Oatmeal (the steel-cut kind that you cook) was also helpful.

Can you add another pumping session? That's the thing that ultimately helps me most.
What I typically do is I'll add another session and start pumping for just 5 minutes at that time so my body starts to realize it needs to make milk then. I'll slowly increase the time until it gets to a regular pump session (which for me is about 18 minutes).
I also make sure to pump at least 18 minutes for my sessions because I will have at least 2 letdowns... sometimes 3 during that time.
Fenugreek and More Milk Plus (the liquid one!) are really helpful.
I also eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning.
Make sure you drink enough water as PP mentioned. I work FT and I bring 2 32-ounce water jugs with me and make sure to finish them AT WORK. Then I know I'm drinking my 8 glasses of water each day. And of course I also drink water during breakfast and dinner, so I know I'm always hydrated.

As others said, fenugreek, oatmeal (steel cut oats, not the "regular" kind) and drink lots of water.
If LO is sleeping through the night, you may need to add a pump session.
Also chcek your pump. Have you changed the membranes? (Look at your manual. I think they need to be changed every 3 months.) Does the motor still work at full speed?

I'm going with the return of AF is in your future, but that's just a guess.
Drink LOTS of water, and a beer seriously helps. Adding an extra pumping session and a beer a night really is what worked for me. I did take the fenegreek, made the cookies, at ethe oatmeal, drank the tea and so on, but in the end it didn't work for me and those vitamins were $$$$. I was spending like $100 a month on it and alfalfa.

I agree it's probably AF returning. As per kellymom.com, start taking a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement (1500/mg/750mg/45mg) and your supply should return to normal almost immediately. After I started taking it I had no further supply issues.
