My IVF Journal
Hi ladies. I've been wanting to post my IVF Journal for a while in the slight chance it helps someone. We decided to take the IVF route after four unsuccessful IUIs. I was a super slow responder to STIMS and only ended up with 3 eggs at the egg retrieval. Out of those 3 eggs, 2 fertilized. We transferred one embryo on day 5, and shortly after found out our other embryo didn't make it to freeze. Well here I am, 10 weeks pregnant.. total proof that it only takes one!
Please feel free to FM me with any questions. I was a patient with RSofNY and I cannot say enough great things about them. Especially their West Islip office. They truly went above and beyond for us.

IVF Consultation [CD1]
What a very overwhelming visit! Basically learned that I will take birth control for about a week, then start injectables for 7-10 days. He gave us a tentative egg retrieval date of 04.20.12 but said give or take a day or two. I think the most confusing part so far is understanding all the medications.

Received the call that it is okay to start oral contraceptives today! First hurdle cleared :)

Saline Sonogram / Mock Transfer [CD8]
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Honestly, getting the catheter where it needs to be is the hardest part. SO uncomfortable. The doctor said my uterus looks perfect. I also received my injectables today. Very exciting to be moving on with the process!

Bloodword and Sono / Physical [CD9]
Last day of birth control! I have the next three days off before it's time to start the injectables. The doctor gave me a quick physical and we filled out some information on the embryo transfer. My lining was 5mm and my ovaries were quiet.

Bloodwork and Sono [CD13 - Stims Day 1]
Drew three vials of blood today for a Comprehensive metabolic panel and full blood work up. Sono showed a lining of 5mm again and my ovaries are still quiet. Filled out all consent forms regarding IVF. Got the go ahead to start injectables tonight.. 150 IU of Bravelle [2]

Woke up with a light period. Called and the nurse said it is completely normal to get a period when stopping birth control and starting injectables. PHEW!

Bloodwork and Sono [CD16]
Took blood pressure, temperature, and pulse today. Sono showed my lining was 6mm. All follicles were less than 10mm. There were about 8 on my right and about 5 on my left. Doctor decided to up my Bravelle to 225 IU [3] per night.

Lining was 7.5mm today. Follicles are still less than 10mm. Doctor is upping my Bravelle to 300 IU [4] per night.

Lining was 8mm today. Follicles are all STILL less than 10mm. The nurse called with my bloodwork results and said my estrogen went down, so the doctor wants to see me back tomorrow to potentially add/switch meds since I am not responding. :-/

Lining was still 8mm today. Follicles are all still less than 10mm. My estrogen went back up but the doctor wants me to take Menopur [300 IU] in addition to Bravelle [150 IU].

Lining was 9.5mm today.. Follicles are all still less than 10mm BUT they totally looked bigger! Going back Monday to check again.

Lining was 10mm today. Follicles still haven't grown. One doctor wants to cancel cycle since today was day 14 of stims with no response, he consults with another doctor who wants us to continue the meds. We'll see. Estrogen was 60 today.

Lining was 10mm again and still no follicle growth. Estrogen jumped from 60 to 73.

FINALLY! Some progress! Lining was 10mm and I had two follicles grow in my right ovary. One was 10.5mm and the other was 11.5mm. Fingers crossed we are finally moving in the right direction.. Estrogen also jumped up to 102.

Moving right along! Estrogen jumped up to 228. Lining was 11.5mm, and I had four follicles in my right ovary.. 11mm, 12mm, 14.5mm and a 15.5mm

Estrogen went up to 332. Lining was 12.5mm. Four follicles in my right ovary were measuring 11mm, 12.5mm, 15mm, and 16mm.

Estrogen was 388. Lining was 14mm. Four follicles in my right ovary measured 12mm, 14.5mm, 18mm, and 21mm.

Estrogen jumped to 609! Lining was still 14mm. Follicles were measuring 13mm, 14.5mm, 21mm, and 22mm. Still nothing in my left ovary.

Today was my last sono! Estrogen jumped to 770. Lining was 14.5mm. My follicles were measuring 11mm, 17.5mm, 23mm and 25mm. After 24 days of STIMS my egg retrieval is finally scheduled for Sunday! Fingers crossed we'll get 3 eggs!

They were able to retrieve 3 eggs! Fertility Report to come tomorrow.

3 mature eggs were retrieved, 2 of them fertilized! Scheduled for a 3 day transfer on Wednesday!

Tentative Transfer Day!
Got a call this morning from the embryologist. She said both of our embryos look perfect so they want to wait until Friday to see if one looks better than the other. How exciting! Finally some good news! I was so worried about them!

Transfer Day!
We transfered one AB hatching Blastocyst. Doctor said that is excellent. Our other embryo was only a morula so they are going to watch it and see if we will be able to freeze it!

7 Days Post Egg Retrieval Bloodwork
Found out today our other embryo didn't make it to freeze. I am so bummed. :(
Checked estrogen and progesterone levels today. Estrogen was 529 [they wanted it to be at least 100] and Progesterone was 14.4 [they wanted it to be at least 5].. so everything is looking good so far.

10 Days Post Egg Retrieval Bloodwork
Whined my way into a beta lol! Beta came back a low positive at 13.1! Fingers crossed. Progesterone was 16.6 and Estrogen was 285.

Beta came back positive at 194! Progesterone was over 40 and Estrogen was 548.

Numbers doubled! Beta was 392! Progesterone was 39.2 and Estrogen was 633. First sonogram next Friday!

First Sonogram! [5w5d]
Saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac. Fingers crossed we'll see a heartbeat next week!

We have a heartbeat! Got to see it and hear it! 120BPM

Third Sonogram / RE Release
Baby is measuring on schedule! Heart rate was 166BPM. Got the go ahead to stop Progesterone Suppositories. RE is releasing us to my OB!
