My husband just told me...
he wants to go on an extended weekend to SC to look at houses and areas.
I am excited, yet I didn't think we were going to do this for a few years. Is it stupid to start looking now?

we would love to move now. since we could both definitely get a job and right now i can't get one up here.
i just dont know if any builders will take us seriously since we dont have an exact timeframe and we havent sold our house yet. i know that is a whole different post, but I wouldnt even know how to begin.

Not at all.
We are going to NC at the end of May for the same reason...to check out our possible future homestead!!

Then any amount of money over what you purchased the house for with be hit with capital gains tax.

Same here. But a wonderful girl here on LIF gave me her mom's info who is a realtor in NC and she's going to be taking us around when we go down.
There's so much to decide before selling our current home. We want to check out different areas, builders' plans, developments, schools, model (furnished) homes, land sites...you can't just sell your house and wait around for the completion of the construction. Just go and check it out...you have nothing to loose.
