My DH left his ATM card in the machine yesterday!
And didn't realize it until today. Luckily the bank had it. I can't even get mad at him because he's already sooo mad at himself for doing it. It's so NOT like DH to ever leave anything behind. He's super responsible like that.
I wonder, could someone actually have tried to use his card to withdraw money if they were dishonest and didn't return it?

probably not, after you do one transaction and they asked if you want another you need to re-enter the pin.

They would have had to be very lucky on their guesses about the password! Had he ended his transaction? Anyway once you notify the bank you shouldn't have to worry. You will need to cancel that ATM card and wait for a new one.
Can you tell this happened to me when my SIL went to get cash for me? It's more of an inconvience than anything else.
* making sure he had completed the transaction and just forgot to take the card*

They couldnt' have withdrawn money without his pin but if you have the visa card option on your ATM, it could wipe out your account with purchases.
My friend used her ATM card to buy something online. Someone bought $2K worth of items in Arizona using her card #. It took weeks before her bank gave her a conditional refund while they investigated fraud. Lucky for her, she has savings to tide her over or she would have had mortgage issues.

in order to make an ATM transaction, you need your pin code..
BUT, if it had a visa/mc logo on it, they could use it at a store as credit and it would come out of your checking and THAT would be a big problem

My DH has done this alot lately, He has left his ATM in the machine, and forgot to take it, and the machine took it inside, so no one got it, he also left 2 cards in like 2 days at different restaurants and forgot to take it back.
Luckily no one used the cards and they issued him new ones.
Tell your DH not to worry, it happens all the time and not to beat himself up about it
