My Closing Checklist-- am I missing anythign?
Ok-- this is what I have done... is there anything else I am missing?? Closing on Monday 
- Called electric company
- Called water company
- Called phone/cable
- Home insurance
- Set up landscaping to continue (so we don't get overgrown)
- Awaiting exact amounts for certified checks which we'll get by Thurs/Fri

Don't forget to bring your checkbook to closing! You will probably have to write a check or two at the table -- Yes, even though they tell you "exact" amounts for the bank checks...

right- I know that, and drivers license and passports for ID.
It just seems like FOREVER before we move... not til Aug 20th!!! I am both dreading and excited about it!

You may wish to see if there is a contract for sprinklers if you have in ground sprinklers.

Andrew, you are buying a co-op, right?
If so you can probably skip water company & landscaping.
We did get bank checks at the last minute & insurance before the closing.
Electric & cable it depends. If you are moving right in you may want to do that before so you can get them to come on the day you want.
Cable had to come, electric didn't. They just switched us over on the day we agreed upon. I actually couldn't do electric too early, b/c I had to wait for the previous owner to cancel hers first.
Randi--do you need to do anything with gas or oil? If you have gas in Westchester it is probably same comapny as electric (Con Ed).
On LI, I believe they are usually different companies.

I was just making sure that the companies knew there was a change of ownership-- and I needed to set up new accounts for that address, etc. We also have a substantial lot size and I wanted to make sure the landscapers continued to maintain it.

yes we are.... i think the only thing we have to worry about is cable tv and getting a cashiers check for the remaining deposit...
