My CD3 update..
I went in this morning & was monitored by Sandra who was a doll! she explained everything & made me feel so at ease. She prescribe me something similar to Clomid (forget the names starts with an L) but my ins plan didnt cover it so they gave me Femera instead. Dr B plan of action for me is to do Femera + IUI. I was not aware of this b/c Dr B had been waiting to get my med records from my OB & I guess once he reviewed them (I have endo) he decided this was best.
I am so nervous, I want to cry, I dont know if I should just do the pills for now and see if we can get preg on our own or jump right into IUI. I am at work now & all I want to do is cry.. Anyone that has done this, please FM me some info & give me some guidance. I am an emotional wreck.

Re: My CD3 update..
no experience with iui's but I think its normal to be nervous because this is something so new and its very sudden for you... i think you should be totally ready to do an IUI, but if the Dr thinks its best then id probably trust him... maybe you can wait 1 more cycle just to make sure its what you really want...

Re: My CD3 update..
I haven't started treatments yet, but honestly if Dr. B thinks thats the best way to start then I would. I am sure he wouldnt go right to IUI unless he thought you needed to. Don't be upset, this will help you get your LO sooner

Re: My CD3 update..
Sorry you are having a rough day
Personally, I would say go ahead with the IUI. I was on Clomid for 3 cycles, and then finally moved on to an RE and was monitored clsoely and had 2 IUI's so far. We have changed meds and will start injectables Thurs and have another round of IUI's Mon/Tues. As treatment progresses you will learn more about works and does not work for you. Hopefully the Femara and IUI, if you choose to ahead with it, will be it. Good luck, fm me anytime

Re: My CD3 update..
IMO do what you are comfortable but know the odds. DH and I never did an IUI. but i did a ton of medicated cycles, including femara and injectables,a nd i ultimately got pregnant with IVF. we did conceive twice on medicated timed intercourse cycles but both were early m/c. dr. B doesnt usually bother with femara or clomid alone as the success rates for egg production are lower. IUI will up your chances about 8% from intercourse alone.
i remember it took me a bit of time to accept that this was the way i would get pregnant, but in the end once you accept it, its really not a big deal at all. in the end it doesnt matter how you conceive or build your family.

Re: My CD3 update..
Sandra wrote the prescription for you? I though only a doctor could do that.
I would never jump into anything though unless I felt confident with my decision. I would wait and discuss with my doctor if I felt uneasy about anything.

I have been to 4 REs and every one of them used prescription forms that the IVF nurse would complete and then stamp with the Drs signature, yet none of the nurses would make a decision regarding treatment until receiving instructions from the Dr. I'm sure the drugs are prescribed by her Dr. and under his supervision.

everything was instructed by Dr B before he left for vacation. Sandra also called him while I was at the appt to ask if he thought I should go on Clomid or Femera. The decision had NOTHING to do with the nurse. She was only there to do the internal.

Re: My CD3 update..
Once you get used to going to the RE's office for blood tests and internal sonos, on a near-daily basis, the IUI doesn't feel like any more of an intrusion than that already is. It's just one more in a long line of times the doc puts you on the table. For me, anyway, that's how it felt. The way I look at it, this whole process is so emotionally and physically draining, why not do what you can to make your odds as great as possible that you'll get pg each cycle? You've committed to the appointments, missing work, internal sonos, needles, HSGs, etc. I fm'ed you with a lot more info.
Good luck, whatever you decide.
