My birth story...
Well as most of you know I was 6 days late and was scheduled to be induced on Friday 12/1 if she didn't come on her own. Well I woke up on Friday and called the hospital at 6:30am to see if they had a room available for me and they did. So we were on our way...
Got admitted at 8:30am, went through all the history questions with the labor & delivery nurse, they took blood and hooked up an IV. At about 9am my doctor came in and did an exam – I was 60%, 2 cm and they started me on the Pitocin. I felt very mild period like cramps. She came back in at 10:15 to see how I was progressing, I was now 80% and still 2cm so she broke my water to move things along (didn’t hurt at all). Within an hour the contractions started getting stronger where I needed to breathe through them. At 11:30 I was 100%, 4 cm. They increased the Pitocin and within 15 minutes my contractions were 2 minutes apart and I couldn’t get a break so I asked for the epidural. They had a hard time getting the epi in the right spot because I couldn’t sit still or relax due to the contractions. It really didn’t hurt to put the epi in, it was more annoying, but once it was in I was in heaven. DH & I played cards and watched TV like I wasn’t even in labor. I could see the contractions happening on the monitor but felt nothing!!!!

By 3pm I started feeling a lot of pressure (like I had to poop). I saw on the monitor that they were contractions (at this point I was 7cm). By 5pm I was in a lot of pain again. The pressure was painful and frequent (9cm). The doctor said the pressure was Hannah making her way down and I was ready to push. So at 6:15 we started pushing. I have to say pushing is hard work! I really really really wished I napped right after I got the epidural. The doctor said that the average first time mom pushes for 3 hours. I nearly fainted because there was no way I had enough energy to do this for 3 hours!!!

The doctor noticed I was in a lot of pain and was confused why it was so intense. Well needless to say something went wrong with the epi and I was pretty much au natural at this point. There was nothing we could do at this point, so I had to deal with it. Then a nurse came in and told the Dr that they needed her asap for an emergency c-section. She turns to me and says “I’m not going to leave you, but you need to have this baby NOW.” She called in 2 nurses to help push me faster. One stood over me and pushed the baby from my belly, the other 2 had my feet and the doctor went in with her hands. So needless to say it was very painful and I tore really bad and needed to be stitched, but I only had to push for an hour! I was so grateful!!!

Wow - what a magnificent baby - your cat looks like its "what the HELL is THAT?" in the pic - I was laughing - i'm sure my cat will look the same way!!!!

Sorry I didn't mean to scare you. Try not to be scared. In all honesty, for me labor was not half as bad as I imagined it to be (esp with the epidural.) You are so anxious and excited that you just go with it. I just kept telling myself its almost over and then I get to hold my little

Nah it's just a pinch when they numb the area. The thought of what they are doing is what makes you scared, but after that pinch, you feel great!!!
