My 8.5 dd is sick for the 1st time - questions?
I have been sick (cough, runny nose, achy) for the last two days. Now my dd has it. She fussed all night (normally sstn). She is coughing, very runny nose, sneezing. She is a little fussy, but still smiley and has regular appetite. Soooo....what do I do? Call the Dr.? Give her tylenol? Any recs from btdt moms is most appreciated.

Saline drops in her nose and then use an aspirator to suck out the boogies. Cool mist humidifier in her bedroom when she's sleeping. Fill the bathroom with steam and sit in there for a few minutes to help loosen any congestion. Tylenol if she gets a fever. Oh and a lot of moms swear that vicks on the bottom of their feet and cotton socks at night helps with coughing. I've done it a few times and it did help for a few hours, but not all night. Hope she feels better soon!

I agree with PP and just wanted to add that you might want to prop her changing pad up so that she's not lying flat during diaper changes. They say to prop one end of the mattress too but if your DD is anything like mine, it wouldn't do much bc they are all over the crib. Also at that age DD had similar symptoms and actually vomited while we were feeding her bc of the mucus. Our ped suggested giving her more of a solid diet so instead of giving her a 6 or 8 ounce bottle we halved it and gave her more oatmeal. It did help keep things down. Good luck and hope you both feel better!

Just suck her nose as much as possible. If you do not have one of the battery powered aspirators then I suggest getting one....they are a life saver.
If she is playing and eating like normal with no fever I would not bother callign the Dr....if anything changes then call. I would not give tylenol unless she has a fever.
My DS has had 4 colds and he is 9 months....I only went to the Dr for one fo them and he said as long as they are happy and eating then it isn't really anything to do....watch for changes in boogers, fever or if it doen't go away.
