My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!! **update

My chances for getting preg with IUI are slim bc of my low amh but the Dr wants to try 3 cycles before IVF. I responded shockingly well to 50mg clomid and have two beauties who are ready! I was triggered today and IUI will be in the am. I have the day off to relax and stay off my feet. Wish me luck ladies!
Is the IUI usually a fast procedure? I am scheduled for drop off at 8 and they said It will be an hour to prep it-- Has anyone waited less for the prep? I have to pick up my little guy at 10 and I'm cutting it close but it was their only appt time!

Procedure is quick. Only 5-10 mins. Then you wait there for maybe 10-15 mins then you are out. I think one time we went in after 45 mins, but we have waited 1hr the other times.

Re: My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!!

It takes about an hr to prep, very little time for the IUI itself and then you lay there about 15 mins, but getting to your DS in time really depends on how fast they get you in to start the IUI.

the IUI itself is quick 10 min or so

Its the prep and washing time that takes longer

My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!!

Prep takes about a half hour - 45 minutes. The IUI takes about 5 mins. Hopefully they will be running on time and you wont cut it to close with getting your DS.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

bring a lot of water with you= when I had mine I had to have a full bladder- so I drank 4 bottles of water. By the time the dr saw me the other day I thought I was going to pee all over the table- but luckily I did notChat Icon

Re: My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!!

they told me to get my bladder full because sometimes if it is not full it can block something in there? Not too sure..but I had 2 b2b IUI's -Monday & Tuesday and both days I had to drink a lot..
Maybe call them just to see- or worst case-just bring some water with you Chat Icon

That's so interesting! They said no full bladder needed at all. I can see where they are coming from though. I'll bring water with me now LOL

My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!!

I also never needed in a full bladder. In fact, they advised me to use the restroom before the IUI. Don't think a full/empty bladder will make a difference.

Hope everything went smoothly today!!

My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!!

Don't worry ladies. A full bladder isn't imperative for an IUI. Some offices have you fill, but not all. When your bladder is full it pushes the uterus down & straightens it out so the catheter goes in easier on some women. But the catheter is flexible so even if your bladder is empty it still gets to where it needs to be Chat Icon

Re: My 1st IUI tomorrow!!!!

Hey ladies! Thanks for the positive vibes!
I had drop off at 8am and the IUI started around 10:15-- many retrievals and only one dr so they were super backed up!
It went well except it was very painful. I don't get it- I didn't even feel anything with a blocked tube during the HSG and this bothered me lol she swabbed the cervix and then did something next that caused like an electric shock feeling up to my right ovary! I jumped and then had painful cramps so she had to let the uterus relax before pushing the swimmers in. It was fine after that. Maybe she put the catheter up high and I'm still sore from Oing. She also said that they don't check betas with IUI- I will go back in a week for progesterone test and then home test 14 days from now. I guess all offices are diff!
