My 19 day old dribbles lots when drinking from his bottle - what to do?
Moms,
My 19 day old dribbles a lot when drinking his bottle (he's formula fed). It is spilling out of the corners of his mouth. His bib and the neck of his PJ get all wet.
Is this normal? What should I do?
I use the Avent bottles with the newborn (0+) nipple. I tried the Dr. Brown's bottle 2 days ago and still, same thing. I burp him about 3 times during a feeding (he's drinking 4 oz of formula) but it doesn't make a difference either.
TIA!

i asked my PED about this when abby was really little and she said its prob due to the nipple being a little too fast for her at the time that soon enough she would catch up to it. and sure enough in a few weeks it was fine
eta. i would let her suck a few min take the bottle out and let her catch up and take a breather then give the nipple back

just an FYI -- we used avent but they leaked like crazy! there was NOTHING worse than trying to feed a screaming baby at 4am and having to deal with a leaking bottle
are you sure its not leaking?! if its not, id agree with the PP and say the nipple might be too fast

My dd dribbles too...sometimes a lot, sometimes barely any...must be how much "effort" she puts into drinking
