Re: must haves in the kitchen-
These are the things i love about my kitchen
Double Wall ovens Microwave above the counter not the cooktop Powerful Hood above cooktop 5 burner cooktop Warming drawer in Island Pull Out spice rack in the island All pull out drawers for pots and pans Roll out pantry Free standing ice maker, makes clear ice the kind you would buy at 7-11, 50 pounds a day Beverage center with clear glass and 3 temps French door fridge Glass front accent cabinet doors with glass shelves with lighting All outlets are mounted under the cabinet with the under cabinet lighting. this helps with keeping the backsplash looking uniform Instant hot water extra large single deep sink Corner cabinet has 2 level lazy susan Window in front of sink Double garbage pull out TV high up mounted on a cabinet base, it looks cool
Things i could live without Trash compactor, i know someone said they love theirs but we never use it ever.
If i could change something i would add a single drawer dishwasher as an extra for when you host big parties

Re: must haves in the kitchen-
Some of the things I have that I love are: *Instant Hot *Garbage disposal *Garbage pail in pull out cabinet *Drawers for pots/pans *Island *2 Corner cabinets - withOUT lazy susan (I feel there is a lot of wasted space. I use these to store big stuff like punch bowl and party stuff so if I have to dig a bit when I need it, I don't mind -- I prefer the extra space) * Bookshelf at end of island for cookbooks *Lower cabinet with vertical dividers for cookie sheets, cutting boards, cooling racks, etc (I actually just installed a file folder divider from Office Max) *Dishwasher with dry cycle (2 friends bought "Energy Saver LG dishwashers and there is no heated dry so they have to open the door to dry the dishes or put them up on the counter). *Crown molding on cabinets *Under cabinet spinning spice rack *Under cabinet mounted LCD TV that can be folded up *Over cabinet lighting
Things I wish I had: *LOVE the 48" Wolf stove *Overhead pot rack *Recessed lighting *Beverage fridge in island *Extra deep sink (single basin) *Small sink in island *Pantry *Under cabinet lighting *Molding on bottom of cabinets (not sure what it is called) *Cabinets with no "bar" in between the 2 doors on upper cabinets (I thought they were called "full-face" cabinets but when I ordered them for my island the doors close completely next to each other but they still have that bar inbetween) *Hood over the stove *Pot filler (not really sure if it is necessary, it just looks high-end IMO). *Butcher Block countertop on island
Things I don't think I'd want *Stainless Steel appliances (too hard to keep clean) *Wall ovens (too hard to reach into them without burning my arms)

LOVE the pull out drawers for the pots and pans and stuff like that!!! So helpful!!! We only have it on the bottom part of a large cabinet and 2 smaller ones.
I also would LOVE a warming oven! We don't host often but when we do, it really would be a huge help!

Re: must haves in the kitchen-
In my dream kitchen I will have foot pedals to operate the water in the sink so I don't have to touch the facets with dirty hands.
I agree with others on this: No microwave above the stove, I hate it Pull out drawers are a must Lazy Susans in corner cabinets, I only have it on the bottom and wish it was on the top too. I have a pot filler over the stove and I never use it - it is useless if you have small kitchen (JMO) Under the cabinet lighting Incinerator in the sink so I don't have to worry about food in the drain.

Re: must haves in the kitchen-
I just did a lazy susan for pots and it was the best! I don't like the draws for pots because they all need to be stacked on top of each other. in the lazy susan they can be spread out and picked up easier
we did a stand mixer cabinet (made by kraftmade) and I love it!! it holds your stand mixer and raises it to counter height and then goes back in without ever having to take it out of the cabinet to use
I also love the under the counter lighting and the undermount sink that is extra deep
I love the fancy hood. so glad we didn't put a micro over the range
And I haven't used it yet but the pot filler I love the look of it as well as the function.
I also like having more then 4 burners on the range and none of them are small so you can put a large pot on any of them
