Mucus plug help!!!!

Ok so I was just in the hospital all day yesterday because I was having contractions. They were 2-3 minutes apart but not strong enough to dilate. So I'm still 2 1/2 centimeters.

Well I went home and was so exhausted I slept all night long. I woke up took a shower and saw I lost my mucus plug!!! Now I'm freaking out. How long after you girls lost your mucus plug did you actually go into labor ???? I have not had any contractions yet so that's a good sign because I'm 35 weeks and want my LO to stay in a little longer.

Please help!!!! What can I expect???

Re: Mucus plug help!!!!

After my water broke, I lost my mucus plug in 2 parts within the next hour or so.

BUT I have known friends who lost their plug and didn't go into labor for as long as a week.

Re: Mucus plug help!!!!

with my first, I lost my plug and I thought something was gonna happen. Didn't give birth for another 2.5 weeks (5 days late). It regenerates after 48 hours or so. I did some loss again closer to when I delivered.

Re: Mucus plug help!!!!

I actually had my plug regenerate. I lost it at 35 weeks, and either lost it again, or lost more of it @ 37wks 6days. DS1 was born @ 38wks.

I freaked out when I lost it @ 35 weeks, because like you, I was having contractions too - and my entire family was on vacation 12 hrs away!

Re: Mucus plug help!!!!

If there is blood in it, you will probably go into labor within 48 hours. If there is no blood, it could regenerate. I lost mine in chunks over the course of 2 weeks.

Re: Mucus plug help!!!!

I was having contractions about 15 minutes apart when I lost mine. Delievered DS the next morning. Some people deliver weeks after losing their mucus plug, so you really don't know for sure.

Re: Mucus plug help!!!!

I started loosing it on a Friday after an aggressive "labor inducing internal" and it kept coming out in clumps (sorry TMI) until Sunday. My contractions started on Sunday at 3:00pm. My water didn't break until I was at the hospital.. I think it was around 6:00am Monday morning.
