moving a month after closing, when to change cable?

i've already changed the other utilities to us (our closing is tomorrow)

we're not going to be moving until the beginning of june.

can i wait to put the cablevision in our name on the new house since we dont have a move-in date yet?
i dont want to pay for double cable...

TIA

Do you have cablevision now if so call them and tell them you want to set up a date to have your new line hooked up and your old one terminated on X date.

I would say wait until you think you know when you will move in then schedule an appt for them to come and set it up (remember it takes a while if you want a weekend etc). Or you could set it up now but not make the appt for say 3-4 weeks this way you have it arranged they won't charge you until you are hooked up.

yes, we have cablevision now so it should be easy to transfer it.

i think i'm going to wait to call them until we know when we're moving.

No problem! I would call about 2 -3 weeks before you move though otherwise you get what they give you - I have found if you can call like 2-3 weeks ahead we get better choices of dates/times. It won't kill you if you get it set up before the furniture comes b.c it will be easier to work around - just make sure you know where you want your TVs, modem etc so that they can set it all up correctly.

Just don't do what we did - have cable come to move things around the same day as our security alarm people (to move the wires for the phone), movers, baby furniture etc - so we had total chaos on the same day.
