Mouse in the House

I am going to SCREAM. We found mouse poop in our kitchen a few days ago. Underneath the cabinet and in the sink (I didnt even think mice could get into high places, but whatever). So we cleared out the kitchen cabinets, I washed everything, and they have been sitting in baskets ready to go back. We put 2 mouse traps in our kitchen, and nothing.

Today I get up and see poop in my sink again, on the floor, on my countertop, and on the island that divides my kitchen and living room. Then I look in the bouncer that it right next to my island and there is poop on that. I am going to go CRAZY!!!!!!

I have some of my sons toys in the living room, and I dont want the freakin mouse to go near them....what am I supposed to do....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Will they be able to find the mouse...or are they going to have to put something down that will require us to leave the house....we are having a big party tomorrow, at the house.

Re: Mouse in the House

what kind of traps are you using?

when we had this problem last year, we started with the glue traps. then our neighbor suggested to get the snap ones and bait it with peanut butter. sure enough, that night we caught the little bugger.

the other days i noticed some poop. we set the snap one in the basement that night, and sure enough we caught the mouse. the traps are vicious, but with a little peanut butter they seem to get the job done.

Thanks Michelle, but right now, this little thing is as far from cute as you can get to me right now.

i feel your pain. initially i felt bad and wanted to save the little critter...but then i got a good look at him and there was nothing cute about him.

there were 2 kinds my husband used. one had a piece of yellow plastic that he felt was safer, the other didn't have it and was much more sensitive. it freaked him out a bit because he was afraid he would set it off by accident. the first one he could put down and push with a broom to position it where he wanted it, the second one he couldn't do that, it went off because it was THAT sensitive...

keep trying - good luck!

I agree, use whatever you have to. Sorry, but they are a disgusting health hazard... they have to go by any means necessary.

Good luck.

Re: Mouse in the House

I would call someone b/c they are also experts at detecting the smallest places that the critters are coming in. Perhaps the mouse only comes in at night and an exterminator type of person could close up the entry & it won't get in anymore.

ughh, I feel for you. We had this problem in the beginning of the summer and I was so disgusted. Thankfully my cats took care of the problem very quickly, before we even got the traps! Haven't seen any since, thankfully!
