Mother's Helper Rate

I am hiring a mother's helper to come for a few hours to entertain my 2 year old so I can get things done around the house. She will be either 14 or 15 years old. What is the going rate? I thought $10 but people have been telling me $7-$8 is enough since I will be home. What does everyone pay? TIA Chat Icon

Re: Mother's Helper Rate

My neighbor told me that babysitters get $10, mother's helpers get about 1/2 that b/c you're home and they're just there "helping" you. I would offer $6-8 since she's a little older than the average mother's helper (I think they're usually 10-14 yrs old)

Re: Mother's Helper Rate

I pay my teenage babysitter $10 while I work from home. I am not readily available to help her though. So I treat it as if I am not home.

Re: Mother's Helper Rate

I would think $6-7 and round up when paying.
