more solids questions...
When did you start purees?
We started cereal last week (a few days after he was 4 months). He eats it with no problem, but I get the feeling he does not love it! I can't blame him, it tastes horrible.
I also don't really feel like there are is much nutritional value, atleast fruits and veggies provide that, not just wasted calories. He is getting iron from his formula so he does not need it from that.
Also.... i feel like we have to do cereal with a bottle cause it needs to be mixed with formula.... what is you typical feeding schedule with early solids?
This solid stuff is so confusing!

Re: more solids questions...
we skipped cereal (for now) went right to stage 1 purees. She hated cereal. Loves stage 1
started with orange veggies - 3 days of each sweet potatos squash
just did bananas (3 days) on to apples tonight!
ill do green veggies next then back to fruits, pears and peaches.
I feed her fruit or veggie at 4:30pm right now, between her 3pm and 630 bottles (6:30 bottle is right before bed). Will add another solids feeding in the morning once we have gotten through the majority of fruits and veggies

is there a reason most people start with the orange ones and wait on greens?!

more solids questions...
We started around 5 months but we were given the ok from the ped at 4 months. I gave one new food at a time for 3 days straight to make sure there's no reaction. As the PP said, I always heard it was best to start with yellow/orange foods first because they're easier on tiny tummies. I've also heard it's better to start with veggies so they don't automatically prefer the sweetness of fruits. If he hates cereal, I say skip it! There's no real need for it, just for practice. GL!

I was definitely planning to do veggies first! I actually was thinking doing green beans first cause they seem the least exciting to me! But we will go with orange ones first! Thank you!!

more solids questions...
I did 4 days of oatmeal, then moved to bananas. I went on from there in no particular order but continued to give oatmeal too. I think I did avocado, butternut squash, and apples in the beginning but it took a while for her to enjoy any of it. I didn't follow any rules about what order and DD always preferred veggies over fruit.

I started with cereal and moved quickly to fruits (that's what my ped recommended). Then I moved on to orange veggies (not only are they easier on tiny tummies - they tend to be tastier than the green ones).
I mixed the fruits and veggies with the cereal for DS to eat it. I had a horrible sleeper so I thought the cereal would fill him better.

Re: more solids questions...
Thanks for posting!! I'm so clueless about this as well!! I had no idea about the green veggies.
To answer your question....
We skipped cereal and started oatmeal at 5 months. Ped said give in the morning for a week 1 time a day, then we can move to solids 2 times a day after 1 week. He didn't mention any order just to try each one for 3-4 days to check for any reaction.
We did oatmeal for a week. Then moved on to sweet potatoes which she hated, now we are on carrots...and then squash next before moving onto some fruit.

How long did it take to enjoy any of it? And at how many months was she when she did?

I started at 6 months. Probably took at least two weeks to get her to really eat and not just push most everything back out.
