Montauk Lighthouse this weekend?
Thinking of going out to Montauk Lighthouse with the hubby and friends on Friday and we're just wondering if traffic is going to be a disaster. We'd probably hit the road around 11:30-noon. Anyone have any experience with heading out east or to the lighthouse before the 4th? Is traffic really that bad (we'd probably take Sunrise out)?
TIA

Yes, you are going to hit a lot of traffic.

Ugh, I really want to go so I'm in denial about the traffic.

Re: Montauk Lighthouse this weekend?
Honestly, we have gone out the last few years and it isn't as bad as you might think. If you leave early enough (we leave by 10:00am from exit 58 on Sunrise) and make it in like 1.5 hours. Without traffic it's like 50 minutes. It's really just the lights as you go through the individual towns. We also stay late for fireworks and even leaving isn't bad at all. Have fun!!

We're headed out Thursday night but if I were going Friday, I'd be getting up at 5am. (not exaggerating)
I should add that I'm in West Suffolk/East Nassau area.

Re: Montauk Lighthouse this weekend?
Guess we'll leave it for another weekend. Might be more enjoyable anyway. Def don't want to get aggravated in traffic. Thanks!

Re: Montauk Lighthouse this weekend?
It's going to be horrendous. I think the traffic this year is worse then ever. Last Friday it took me 2 hours to get from Riverhead to East Hampton and I know all the back roads

Re: Montauk Lighthouse this weekend?
I live & work in the Hamptons...was on Montauk HWY in Bridgehampton all day today and traffic was pretty constant on a weekday..someone from NJ asked me if there was an accident with all the traffic...i said "no...this is normal"...weekends are busy.. holiday weekends...extra busy with idiots
