Monday QOTD
Do you think others will view you as an "old" Mom or a "young" Mom. This is based on perception, not your actual age.
I ask this because a friend of ours is 33 and has 2 young kids. She is an attractive woman. She doesn't look older than her age and she is very active with the kids but for some reason she comes off as "old" to DH and I. I think it's because she is on the conservative side and is a little uptight when it comes to having fun with the adults. It's not just that though, she just seems a lot older than everyone else. My husband knows her longer than I have and he says she has always come off that way.
I hope that other people look at me and think "young" Mom. I like to have fun, laugh and be silly. I hope that doesn't change too much when I have the responsibility of being a parent. I want to be able to have fun with everyone, our friends, our family and not just my kids. I hope I don't become uptight and frumpy!

Re: Monday QOTD
I think that people will view me as a "young" mom because I look like I'm 12, I'll be 27 which is apparently considered "young" for my field and NYC, and we were the first of our friends to get married and will be the first to have a baby. As long as it's not referred to in a condescending way I dont mind being called a young mom

that is true, young & old could both be condescending....
I want people to think I'm a young Mom but I don't want them to think I'm actually young, like a teenager I picture someone active and fun when I picture a young Mom and also someone who is with the times when it comes to style and trends for both fasion and raising a child.....to me that is young...

People will view me as both. I'm 25 and a big kid...always joking & very silly. I love to have fun with kids but I'm also very strict. I only let them watch child appropriate shows in my house. When company comes over & children are present I make sure conversation is child friendly. I curse like a sailor but not when children are around. I like for children to remain innocent as long as possible.

I think I'll be on the stricter side and you are right that could be viewed as older. I agree with you about the TV and about the conversation around kids too.
My friend that seems older isn't strict. I can't put my finger on what it is about her that gives off the impression that she is "old". It makes me nervous about having kids after 30 (I always thought I'd be done before that but the way things are going I won't be).
Then I remember a lot of my friends are still single and we have friends in their 30's who seem younger than us and we are in our 20's.

Re: Monday QOTD
I’m pretty sure people will see me as a “young” mom because I am such a silly person. I see myself running around like a nutjob playing with my LO. I worry about this sometimes, because I’m on the “older” side age-wise. But- you’re only as old as you feel right? And I feel about 16 most of the time

I would love to be a young mom. I love to have fun and laugh and be silly! I still want to be able to go out with friends and have silly fun adult time as well as silly fun kiddie time too! I also do not want to become frumpy. Id still like to dress sexy and trendy and wear heels.
