Moms who pump for freezer stash -

I'd really like to build a supply this time, especially since they are twins. But I was always a horrible pumper with DS. Part of me wonders if it is because I always pumped after he nursed and there just wasn't anything left.

Do you pump before or after nursing?

I pump after feedings. If you do it religiously for a few days, your body gets used to it and makes more milk. At 3 weeks, I think I had four ounces in my freezer... it's hard to pump when they're always nursing!

I always pumped AFTER the first morning feeding. I then created a new feeding throughout the day. Usually one was an hour after DS went to bed but that was to late for me so then I created one during his nap. It worked well for my stash.

I am bfing my twins and I have pretty much pumped after every feeding. I don't get alot but it was adding up and I was able to freeze some.

right now i am bfing one baby and pumping for the other so I don't have any extra milk. I am just barely keeping up with them!

To create my stash, for the first two feedings in the morning I fed on one side, and pumped on the other side. The next feeding I switched which side I nursed on and pumped on. I've always been a one sided feeder though. This way, I was able to do double duty since I have 2 other kids. I always pumped between 3 and 4 ounces, sometimes more and put it all in the freezer!

I always pumped one side and fed from the other side for the first morning feed bec that was usually when I was at my fullest!

It doesn't feel like it but the lil after each feed does add up

and I would always pump after my DC would go up to bed during the longest stretch...so if I put DC up at 9 I would pump at 11 right before I went to bed and this was all extra!

I also always did breast compressesionss/massages..throughout my entires 20-22 min of pumping...I would only get half as much if I let the pump work alone.. I would also pump until I had my second let down which for me usually came at the 22ish min mark...that was sometimes a whole other oz!!!!

I took fenugreek (3 pills 3x a day) and drank LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of water

good luck..it may take your body a while to adjust...but soon it will!

I HATE pumping but wanted a freezer stash. I mainly feed from the breast but sometimes it's nice to have a stash....so...what works for me is I pump once a day before bed!

DS goes to sleep aorund 7 so by 10 when I am ready to go to bed I pump. I get a full bottle and it allows me to only pump once a day! :)

Works great for me! and isn't overwhelming!

I can't feed from just one breast as I am nursing twins.

But lately they have been going to sleep around 8 and not waking until 12. Maybe around 9:30 I will try to pump both sides and see what I get.
