Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

From the time the Dr. told you, you needed to have a scheduled C, how long did it take for the appointment at the hospital? The C would not be for an emergency.

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

My first was breech, so we scheduled a c/s for no sooner than 39 weeks (my doc would not take him sooner). I think he said he would make the appt with the hopsital a few weeks before. Turns out my water broke before that, so we still have the c/s, but not at the scheduled date!

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

My C was to be scheduled a week before my due date. In my case, the OR wasn't available 7 days before my due date, so mine was done 4 days before my due date.

With Jeremy he was scheduled. I had to be at the hospital at 6AM. I was brought into the ER at 7:55 and he was born at 8:07. I scheduled both babies to be born the day before my due datesChat Icon

Jordy was also breech. I saw the doctor at 36 weeks and thats when we saw she was breech. At that appointment, we scheduled the C-section for 39 weeks. Actually the day he wanted to do it was booked so we scheduled it for the day earlier. I realized that was a holiday when I got home and rescheduled it for the day later.

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

Dr. is going to make the call Tuesday, I want to do it ASAP. Do think they'll be able to get me in within a few days? I just want to get it over with, I'm not thrilled about having a C...

Thanks! DH just started a new job and it will be near impossible for him to take some time off. Mom will be off all next week so she can be home to help. If I go beyond that, I'll be all by myself. Do you think the Dr. will be sensitive to that? Chat Icon

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

You cannot have the c/s too early because the baby needs a certain amount of time in the womb. Why do you NEED a c/s?

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

I had a scheduled c/s with Connor. My doctor wouldn't schedule it before 39 weeks because of lung maturity. They wanted to make sure the baby would be ok. If he decided to come out earlier on his own I just would of had the c/s earlier. I had a c/s with Caiden as well, but I went into labor the night before the scheduled c/s.

Thanks, it's not about lung maturity though, I'm past the 39 week mark so he's fully baked! I don't want to go past 40 week mark if it can be helped.

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

Not sure what you mean - how far after you were told you needed a planned c-section did they give you the appt for the surgery?

If that's waht you mean, basically the doctor called the hospital from her office, asked what was available around the first few days of August since she felt that was the best time for the surgery, and within a few minutes Scheduling gave her a date, she asked if it was fine with me, and it was and that was that.

Edited: I had gestational diabetes and extra amniotic fluid so she didn't want me going more than 38 weeks because they thought Liam was over 8 lbs according to the u/s the day she scheduled the c-section. Turned out the u/s machine was wrong (by a pound!) but I ended up having the c-section at 37 weeks and 5 days.

That's exactly what I meant. If I go Monday for the appointment to schedule, how long after will the surgery be... I guess it all depends on the hospital's availability.

Yes... it depends on the hospitals availability and how many surgeries they have each day. Good luck!

My doctor also called right from their office and scheduled it. We figured what date she'd be available and went from there. I wanted a particular doctor doing the surgery. Chat Icon

Exactly, I only want one Dr. doing it... BUT I have very limited leave and I don't want to use any of it while I'm still pregnant...Of course DH just started a new job and won't be home with me for long at all, my mom is off next week so I was hoping we could do it right away so I won't have to recover and care for the baby all by myself!

Well I was a week late, no progress, and baby was measuring almost 10 lbs. That was at night, and they got me in the next morning.

Re: Mom's who had scheduled C Sections

I was told Ava was breech on a Wednesday, the earliest my doctor could get me in was the following Monday, but she tried for sooner.
