Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
Disclaimer: I am NOT looking for drama here. I have 8 weeks to make what I consider to be a HUGE decision, and I'm just looking to gain a little insight.
I am completely on the fence about this. My DH thinks we should circ., which I find very surprising because no one on his side of the family is circumcised. Then again, he's not adamant about it. He wants to leave the decision up to me, which I am about because obviously, I have no real personal experience with that body part...
My question is (and this is an anonymous poll for obvious reasons): For those of you who did not circumcise, is your DH circumcised? What I'm finding is that DHs who ARE circumcised are pretty adamant about having it done, whereas those who are not can go either way. I'm just curious to know the ratio to help me make an informed decision.
IF you feel comfortable in sharing why you made the decision, I'd appreciate that too. And as I said before, NO drama, please...I just want to make the right choice for my son and I'm hoping those of you who have been there can help me!
Thanks!!!!!

One of my BFF's DH is not circumcised, but is adamant about having it done for their DS. He felt he was always missing out, and that there would be more feeling had he been circumcised.

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
We obviously don't have a boy but had made the decision prior to finding out gender. If we had a boy or have one in the future we will NOT CIRC.
My DH is circ'd and actually has had a lot of problems especially sensitivity when BDing because of the circ, nothing can be done about it the damage is done.
The way we feel is that its put there for a reason why take it off.... There are tons more reasons but I don't want to spark a debate you can email me or message me on FB if you want more info.
Good luck with your decision.

Actually, it's the exact opposite. Being CM means the raw nerve endings are constantly being worn by clothing, so they lose sensitivity. Having the nerve endings protected allows them to have more feeling.

dh is not and josh isn't.
there was no talk about it, dh would have never listened to an argument, he feels it is insane to cut it off.
infection free for 32 years, never laughed at, never turned away from a poss bj.
tmi...the "sleeve" is used quite often in our bedroom so that is probably why he would not listen to any arguments.

yes to this.
and to the OP, like father, like son.
ETA: we didn't opt out to "match" we opted out b/c we both knew there is no reason to. we are catholic so there was no religious tradition to follow...and as long as you CLEAN the penis properly, their shouldn't be any issue.
my MIL is experienced with caring for an uncirmcumsized penis as is my dh...and I have grown to be an expert.

See, I thought this would be the case with my DH, too. He finally told me the other day that he thinks we should do it, but he can't give me a reason why.
I am DH's first partner, so I know it can't be because he had a bad experience for NOT being circumcised...
My gut is telling me not to do it...
No idea what to do, because in the end, DH said it's up to me

My husband is NOT circumcised and my son is, my FIL is circumcised and my husband said he never knew until recently. I don't buy the like father like son thing, it shouldn't make any difference if you ask me.
And you all know how I feel about the cleanlines issue.

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
DH is, Erik is not.
I was on the fence, Al felt more strongly about not doing it without further research showing a good reason to (we didn't know what we were having, and had put off making a decision). So we opted not to cut, since there was no going back if we did.
(Al never bought into the "must look like daddy" idea. His father wasn't circumcised, and Al never even knew that until recently)

Rob is but he did not want our boys to be.. so they are not. I left the decision in his hands entirely.
I think he may have been influenced by my Crunchy European relatives - but he pretty much insisted that they not be cut.

DH tried to pull this on me too! I was SOOOO torn, especially having a preemie who was in the NICU for a month and had to be attached to tubes and pricked almost every day - I hated the idea of causing him ANY kind of pain for what we ultimately felt was only for aesthetic reasons (yes, I know some people say it's for hygienic reasons also, but there is no proof to this that *I* know of and doctors told us that so long as they know how to clean properly, it's fine).
For us, DH did not feel it was necessary for DS to "match" so that's what made our decision harder. In the end, we spoke with my doctor and made a decision literally the last day possible. I gave my opinion, but told DH it was his final say since he has a penis and knows what it all entails and I don't.

DH is, and we did not circ my sons
We decided not to for quite a few reasons. I didn't find it medically necessary, and the rates are 50/50 now so I'm not worried about teasing. The most compelling reason was it is HIS body, and I didn't feel comfortable altering it without a solid reason

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
I'm not going to take the poll b/c we did circumcise but I will say that my DH is circumcised and he really didn't want DS to be. I went back and forth a lot and in then end made the decision to do it and DH was OK with it. I researched the different methods and spoke with my ped. before hand about which method I wanted used on my DS.

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
I prob should not be posting here since DS IS circ'd (as is DH)
I left the decision up to DH, but I was leaning towards doing it anyway, no real GREAT reason why but that was how I felt

DH is, DS is not.
I left the decision up to him and he felt there was no real medical reason to do so.
Plus both my brothers are not, and they haven't had any issues with infections, so this made DH feel more comfortable as well.

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
We didn't because DH is not (he is British) but even if he had been, I don't think I would've. IMO It's an outdated convention - it used to be done for hygenic reasons, but those either don't exist anymore or have shown to have no substantial evidence behind them, so I don't think it's necessary. This obviously does not apply to circumcisions done for religious reasons.

DH is not and DS is not. DH was adamant that we not circumcise DH. He is one of the few who wanted his son to look like him.

I feel this way too. I never even knew/heard about boys being teased about it...DH, DSs, brothers are not cirumcised and have never had an infection.

Ditto. Like father, like son. I have become quite "handy" with my DH's sleeve and I have no issues

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
Dh is circ. and he left the decision up to me. DS is NOT and I am 100% happy with my decision. DH doesn't seem to mind either.
I just didn't see the need to do it. DS is 4, has never had any infections and the ped. showed him how to pull it back and clean it. So now when she are in the bath I tell him and we clean it together.
I was also really nervous that they if I did circumcise him that it would be wrong or re-adhere and it would need to be redone or they wouldn't cut enough off.

Thank you all SO much for sharing--I know it's not an easy topic to talk about.
I really appreciate hearing all of your different points of view, as well as your experiences.
If DH is leaving it up to me, I'm about 90% sure that DS will not be circumcised. I really appreciate hearing from those of you who have already been there

Re: Moms who did NOT circumcise--please take my poll
DH is & DS is not. DH wanted his son to look like him. I asked him how many times he stood around with his father comparing. I got the "Well never but....". That was the end of that argument. I felt it wasn't necessary, I was scared of something going wrong & I really couldn't bare to put him through any kind of pain. One year old so far & we've had no issues at all.

DH is not and while he was open to doing it to DS, in the end we opted not too. I figured if his dad wasnt, he shouldnt be either...
