Mom's who DC has reflux

I have a few questions...

How long was your dc taking the medicine b4 you noticed a difference?

Does your Dc still spit up a lot or is it much less?


What medicine are they taking?

Julianne is on zantac and it took a few days to see a change in her behavior. The screams were horrible BIG difference in the amount she spit up with the meds. Her Ped GI also had me put some cereal in her bottle to bulk up the formula and that did help as well... as nervous as I was to do it. She still does need it at 7 months of age but she is doing so much better and is a a happier little girl now

My DS had silent reflux (didn't actually spit it out - they swallow it _

We tried Pepcid and Zantac for about 4 or 5 days before we decided it wasn't working. Once we went on Prevacid we noticed a difference in 2 days.

we're on alimentum and zantac. We started zantac a few weeks ago, but DS has been on alimentum since a week old. he's now 12 weeks.

It took a good 2 weeks for the formula to help him. Some days the reflux is ok..spits up very little to none. Other days i can see by his fidgeting at feedings and the amount of spitup andoverall crankiness that he's having trouble.

I dont give him the zantac every day b/c i hate having to give him meds. so i go by how he is at his first feeding for the day. If he's fidgeting a ton, arching the back, then i give it.

DS's has reflux and was on Axid and Maalox for a full year. I noticed a difference after a few days. His reflux was so bad that his voice was actually hoarse from all of the acid coming up. He would also burp and look so uncomfortable, you could tell he was in pain. DS would throw up violently. This came and went, mostly because his meds needed to be adjusted when he gained weight.

ETA: We stopped his meds just after he turned a year and transitoned him to whole milk at the same time. DS hated formula and LOVES whole milk. He hasn't had any problems with reflux at all since the transition.

Started Zantac Friday. Still haven't seen a difference yet.

we noticed a difference within 24 hours of ds going on zantac.

Ds had silent reflux (no spitting up)

With DS, we tried different things. First they put him on Zantac and Alimentum (he also has a milk protein allergy), no good. Then we tried the Zantac and this prescription formula called Elecare, better, but not great. Then we switched from Zantac to Axid and definitely much better with the reflux. He still spits up, but you can tell it's not burning him. We also put oatmeal in all his bottles. We only stopped that recently when he started having oatmeal and fruits on the spoon.
