Moms of boys - Disney movie question
Silly question - but do you show your DS all Disney movies, or just the boy ones?
Do they watch Snow White, Little Mermaid, etc, or just Cars, Nemo, Toy Story, etc....

We've only shown our son the boy Disney movies - Toy Story, Cars, etc. I don't think he would be interested in the girl ones because whenever he sees those characters in the store he would make a comment like, "Those are for girls." and move on.

My dad hates The Little Mermaid b/c he says it teaches daughters to disoobey their fathers who were right all along
I'll probably skip the really princessy ones, but do Lady and the Tramp, etc.

Any one he wants to see...My DS is very sensitive to the sad part in a lot of the Disney movies so I try to speed past those parts when he's watching them

When my oldest ds was younger he loved snow white the movie and also the story (I use to read him the story every night before going to bed) so the answer to your question I bought them all

I know how you feel (sort of) I couldn't believe when I first saw Shrek & there was Princess Fiona. I had planned since as long as I can remember to name my daughter Fiona. And I hear it all the time. "Like in Shrek?"

DS will. I think Beauty and the Beast has a good amount of action in it. And they are all good stories.
When I was little I loved the animal ones the most- The Rescuers, Fox and the Hound, Aristocats.
I did make a point to buy both Toy Stories for him though.

All. Even the "girl" movies have male characters.
I think the difference is that little girls imagine themselves as the princesses or girls of the movies vs boys can just enjoy the story.
For example, in Snow White, there are 7 darf characters, a mean queen mother and a prince saving the princess. It's not just a princess story.
There is a "moral of the story" to all the movies. So that's why he will watch them all.

All. DS loved Beauty and the Beast and Lady and the Tramp. I'm not sure which ones are considered "girly", but the ones with stories focused around a female are actually "guy" movies. What guy wants to watch a movie about other guys? DS (and I  ) would rather watch pretty girls for an hour and a half...

I would show my son anyone but he only has showed interest in CARS. He just got Toy Story and 101 Dalmations and watches them a little but I have ashelf of disney movies and he has no interest in any of them. He is not a movie type of kid yet - prefers his little shows.
