Moms of babies with milk protein allergies...
DD is starting some table foods. She is 7 months. i have 2 questions:
1). What puffs or cereals or other boxed snacks did you get that are dairy and whey free?
2). How did you incorporate fats into food preparation? I feel so limited w/o milk, butter, yogurt, cheese. I am using olive oil but would love other ideas.
Thanks!

I started DD with Cheerios. I think the Gerber puffs do not have dairy, but DD did not really like those at first.
As far as the fats, I had asked my pediatrician about that and he told me not too worry about it because she was getting the breast milk and then the solids (fruits and veggies).

I am using Gerber puffs. No issues. Also I am just preparing things plain with olive oil. Also baby mum mums are good.

I tested if she still has milk protein allergy by giving yogurt melts. I bought some organic brand and thought they were the melts without dairy but they did have dairy. she was fine. I'd still check with the Dr first though.

I used the happy baby puffs too. Also avocado is a good source of protein!

DD's ped actually said not to worry about the dairy in puffs, because most kids are fine with it. This was the case with DD. She had no reaction at all. We tried cheese and yogurt between 10 and 11 months. DD was fine for 6 weeks before having a reaction. We stopped dairy and started using olive oil and a butter substitute called Earth's Balance, which was recommended by a few ladies on here.

Re: Moms of babies with milk protein allergies...
Thank you ladies. I will check out the products. My GI doctor still wants us to stay away 100% from all dairy until she is 11 months old. I gave her a mum-mum until I realized that may contain traces of milk. My doctor did not want me to give them to her anymore. She is incredibly sensitive, on the rx formula, and even had a reaction to a probiotic that contains no dairy but may be made in a factory with dairy!

Did you know that you can use the kosher labeling to help you in seeing ifsomething has dairy (or is made on equipment that could have had dairy) sorry I can't link from my phone but here's a quick explanation.

This is an excellent suggestion! We are kosher in my home, so I do that automatically when shopping.
