Moms of 2-ish year olds who like... clean stuff...

Howd'ja swing that, exactly Chat Icon??? I told myself when DS was under a year that it would get easier to clean up and organize as he got older.... HEAR ME NOW: I WAS WRONG.

It doesn't matter WHAT gross or tedious chore I'm trying to do, he wants to be RIGHT on top of me, and wants the utensils as part of his personal stash. Brooms, mops, rags, spray bottles, ALL of them incite a screaming match until I give up and put the chore on the back burner.

My back burner is about to ignite it's so crowded.

So aside from the obvious - when they're sleeping - did ANYTHING work to get them to play separately while you clean up? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I got DS his own broom and dust pan. He "helps" sweep up. I give him a dry paper towel and he mimics me cleaning. He also loves sorting the laundry.Chat Icon He will make a good DH one day.

Same here. I give DD jobs to "help mommy" I'm not as productive as I would like with my little helper but it is much better and I can get a few things done here and there. She has her own broom and dust pan. I give her dry towels to clean up and instruct her to clean areas I just cleaned ect. I'll have her help me put the laundry in and take it out, fold a few of her PJs. She loves it. She gets bored after a bit like she does with every activity and moves on to play with some toys or asks for TV.

ditto - DS#2 has been "cleaning" with a small broom since about 2.5. He sometimes even puts it away himself!

Give him his own 'special' spray bottle filled with water and paper towels.
