What does your DC say? How much do they talk?

Jordana has a bunch of words, but she doesn't really string words together yet.

Same for Luka. The only thing he says is thank you but he was taught that so he didn't put it together himself.
I think 16 months is still kinda young to be putting together 2 word sentences but I could be wrong. He knows how to say a decent amount of words but it is mainly when I ask him to say it and he repeats it.

the real explosion of words can occur between 18-21 months old... Although Jacob does have a speech delay at 23 months he now is talking with 2 words sentences but he still has a long way to go...

She is doing fne...

If I can remember-at 16 months Jenna was saying a lot of words but barely putting 2 together-I think just some simple ones like "more milk", "thank you", etc...Like the above poster said, her real explosion came at 18 months.

ETA-forgot to day her favorite question at that age was "what's that" to EVERYTHING!!!! Now it's "WHY???" to everything!

I think that once they reach like 50+ words is when they really start to put them together. Ava has about 60 words now and she is starting to string them together every now and then, but not consistently.

Wow! she's about my DS 's age - I think he has about 7 words, 3 of which can be understood by someone other than me on a good day. Chat Icon She's so early!!! My older son was a very early talker too. By 18 months he had over 130 words!! Enjoy! It's amazing to be able to verbally communicate with them at such a young age.

I have a feeling that Sara has a speech delay then Chat Icon She will repeat words but does not use words on her own. If I ask her do you want juice? She will say juice.

SHe understands EVERYTHING though. I guess I will have her evaluated. I will ask her ped first>

Sara def, does not have 50 words

17 months here and I'd say a good 25 words. She puts two words together now like "all done" "Mommy up". Samlove I belong to a March 06 board and all of the babies are varying with their speech development(some are barely saying anything). None of them are anywhere near 50 words and we have a good 60 kids there Chat Icon

17 months and nada!
But understands everything... I guess I will have her evaluated around 18 months if she doesn't start speaking soon although she's trying sooo hard to say stuff!

My girls are 17 months

My girls couldn't be more different

Sydney says Hi, Bye, nice, papa, When i ask her how old she is she says 1 and holds up her finger. and is non stop talking.

Reese doesn't talk at all just EHH EHH. Since my girls were preemies born at 29 weeks and since birth has had mouth issues with swallowing. I discussed having her evaluated with the early intervention people for speech. Reese understands everything i say but can't put it into words and she gets frusterated. in 2 weeks a speech lady and teacher are coming over to see if she qualifies for the early intervention speech...it couldn't hurt.

Different for every child... my son had a few words.. the important ones like truck and thomas Chat Icon but my daughter had whole sentences and was explaining things to her brother, it's crazy the difference, but they all catch up.
