Moms expecting their 2nd or more
Do you read all the books you read when you were pregnant with the first? Do you avoid all the foods you avoided the first time around?
I am surprised and sometimes guilty with how little I read this time around.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
I haven't read anything this pregnancy and I glance at the baby center newsletters. I have posted this before and I hate to say it, but it's kinda boring the second time around!
I am still avoiding the foods I did last time, but I may cheat a tiny bit here and there. I am going to London/Paris in December and I am definitely eating CHEESE - pasturized or not!!

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
When I was pregnant with Jack, we would read the Pregnancy Week By Week book every Saturday morning before we got out of bed.
This time around, I think I've read two weeks in total.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
I have 6 days until my repeat c/s. I think I pulled out my what to expect once this entire pregnancy. We did not do the classes like we did last time. It is sort of hitting me now, like do I remember everything. I am hoping it is like bike riding, and that it will just come back to me. I feel like since it was just 2 years ago that was not that long. I stopped BFing when DS was a year, so it has only been 13 months since I last did that. I am still vigilant about the no soft, unpasturized cheeses, no hot dogs, no sushi, no alcohol, no medicine beyond what is prescribed.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
No way. I lent them out after I had Ryan and said I'd want them back when I got pregnant again. They were returned to me but never opened.
I did register on BabyCenter so I get my weekly updates and try to skim them weekly.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
I never read the books the first time around! Between this board and Babycenter, I felt well informed enough. This time around I barely read the babycenter stuff other than to find out what fruit or veggie is each week! I also don't get to come on LIF as frequently as I did last time.
I am eating some of the stuff I avoided last time (mostly cheese items) and I don't feel too guilty about it.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
No, I've been terrible this pregnancy. With the exception of drinking alcohol, I eat and drink whatever I want. I eat cold cuts, soft cheeses, hot dogs etc like 4x a week and I drink 2 cups of coffee a day. With Nina I did NOTHING, I avoided EVERYTHING and read EVERY book. Poor little

This time I only looked at the books a few times, only if I experienced something I didn't with the first.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
I remember anxiously waiting for my baby center updates each week and could tell anyone and everyone exactly how many weeks and days I was at any given time...today I forgot I am almost 15 weeks pregnant and haven't looked at those e-mails in a few weeks (obviously). But I do miss that...all that excitement the first time around...everything being so new. Poor little munchkin.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
I periodically pick up the books no way as diligent as number 1. Regarding food I have been pretty much the same - might of had cold cuts a little more often this time around.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
I didn't really read the books the first time around. I was cleaning up my closet a couple of weeks ago and found a pregnancy organizer and it was blank. I figure I'll give it to my sister when she gets pg cause she's a planner.
I didn't really avoid anything with my 1st pg...just everything in moderation. So I'm doing the same thing this time around as well.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
IF I read anything its about the development of the baby not about pregnancy. With DS I read everything I could get my hands on. I eat the same as I did with DS. My DR said everything in moderation and I still follow that rule.

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
No I don't read the books although I do have them handy in case I want to look something up.
As far as food, I am guilty of not being as strict. There are somethings that I still consider a HUGE no, no but I'll eat feta cheese (alot too) and california rolls (once in awhile).

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
no and no I do read the weekly babycenter updates that tell me how the baby is growing. I took my books out when I went through my maternity clothes, but have not read them.
I have been eating what I want this time around. I eat cold cuts, drink coffee, I've had sushi I forget what else I avoided with DD. I wish i could eat as well as I did with her, but I have no time-esp in the mornings. I used to eat a GREAT breakfast when pregnant with her. But now I am lucky if I get to brush my teeth!

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
well i never avoided foods the last time so no!
this time i read the books in the beginning... but i got bored, i just read them last year! so i don't think i'll be picking them up again unless i have a specific question.
i am also not taking as many belly pics but that's because i don't have a full length mirror in the apt. (that and i feel HUGE).

Re: Moms expecting their 2nd or more
No-I'm terrible.
I know the big rules and adhere to them (cut down caffeine drastically, not alcohol, unpasturized cheeses, etc) but the smaller stuff I am not as die hard about this go around (I have caffeine every day, I eat tuna once every couple weeks, etc) AND I hardly read anything.
