mommies with dc close in age
If dc are close in age how close? Do you think its harder being so close in age?
We were thinking of trying for another so that the babies would be about 14 months apart. Dc 1 and dc 2 are 3 yrs apart. Everyone says your crazy that's to close and has all negative things to say.
I'm looking for all feedback

Re: mommies with dc close in age
The beginning was so hard for me, because DS was 18 months when DD was born, and that meant I didn't get to sleep when she slept, I had to take care of DS during those times. DH also works long hours, and works 6 days straight, so he could only help so much. I say all the time, the sleep deprivation almost killed me. When she started sleeping better, around 4 months, and STTN at 6 months, it really got better. DS has never really shown any jealous towards her and loves her to pieces. They play together all the time now and crack each other up
I don't think we are having any more, but if we do, I want to wait until DD is older this time so it will be easier for me to let the two older ones play by themselves while I care for the baby.

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My kids are 20 months apart. I loved having them so close. All my baby clothes, toys, bouncer, swing, etc, were still brand new from baby #1 so i didnt have to buy any new big items. I was already used to sleepless nights. I was still in bottle, diaper mode, so i didnt need to start that all over again. And now they are the best of friends which is the best perk of all.

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My DD's are 13 months apart. Yes, there are some diffucult times, but they're are also some very rewarding times also. It is sooo amazing to me how well they play with each other now and share, even with my LO only 10 months old. They're amazing with each other, and that alone makes me think that is outweighs all the negitives i could think of. Regardless, have them when you feel it is a good time, since no matter what the age difference is, there is always an adjustment period for everyone.
If you have any questions FM me as i think it was the greatest thing to have them soo close.

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My boys are 10.5 months apart & like others have said, there are some difficult times but the pros outweigh the cons...For me, DS#1 was not walking or even crawling by the time the second was born but since #2 was a preemie, he stayed in the NICU. It gave me some time to adjust my oldest & get him moving at least. Getting out of the house was hard at first, but now I have a system & we are out almost everyday.
To watch the boys interact & laugh with one another is so rewarding. I am anxious for #2 to start to walk so I can truly see them interact & play ball together.

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My boys are 27 months apart.
I just had a miscarriage and the baby would have been born a month before my youngest turned two. I realized how young my son was and I def. need more time with him. He's a handful and needs constant attention. Right now we are thinking about trying so that he will be 2.5 when the baby is born (and my oldest son will be 4.5)

Re: mommies with dc close in age
I am going to have 3 within 5 years. Not super close, but close enough
So far, I think it will be great considering DD and DS get a long ok. I am hoping that the new baby will pair up with them just fine.

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My stepchildren are 17 months apart and it was GREAT when they were younger. They always had a playmate, toys and supplies were always convenient. Now that they are older and dating each others friends well...........let me just stick with the good stuff LOL
Seriously though, I think having them close in age was GREAT!

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My DC will be less than 17 months apart when arrives soon. Chasing after a one year old while pregnant was a little tough but Im so excited to have them this close in age. I know the first few years are probably going to be tough, but for us, we are already in the mode of diapers, toys all over the house, sleepless nights, no social life..we figured we should just do it now! Alot of people look at me and say "your nuts" but hey, whatever!

Re: mommies with dc close in age
My boys are 18.5 months apart. 14 mos would be tough I think. I'm so happy we had them the way we did - they are SO close now (3 and 21 mos).
That said, the first few months were rough (esp because I had a cesarean so taking care of a newborn whist running after an 18mo ). But, once we got into the swing of things it was great.
I wouldn't change it for the world (and it makes me very sad to know that DS2 and #3 will be at least 33 months apart - and that's if I get pregnant as soon as we start trying!).
