Mold!
So, we settled on a house, they accepted our offer, went to inspection and then..mold and termites, It was behind the washer and dryer all on the, underneath the counter in the kitchen when you opened the cabinet, and in the spare bedroom. There was also an on again, off again termite issue. They said they had "no idea" and knocked 10k off our price. According to the specialists we found, if there is more than 10 square feet of molded space, you need to bring in a specialist and replace EVERYTHING. WE would have had to take some of the siding off the house. We needless to say backed out on the upcoming deal. I just need reassurance that this was the best idea.

Re: Mold!
definitely made the right decision.
even if it's not enough mold to require the pros to come in, why is mold growing in all of those wierd areas?
mold = moisture! so there must be leaks in those places... they could be very difficult to take care of... maybe it would cost 1-2k to clean up the mold and termites.. but then you'll discover you have roof or siding leaks
let the current owners deal with that!

Re: Mold!
There are different types of mold but I know that I am allergic to at least one of them and that I am a highly allergic person. I believe that every house must have some mold spores somewhere but I would not buy a house where anything specific was found.

Re: Mold!
termites are kinda okay to deal with as long as they haven't penetrated the entire base of the house but mold. I would of walked right away.
