Mild Congestion and Flying

My DD will be 4 next month and we are flying tomorrow. She has some mild congestion and I am worried about it going to her ears from the plane ride.

I called my Doctor's office to see if there was anything we could give her and they told me steam from a shower and saline spray. I said that doesn't really help me on a plane.

Any suggestions from my fellow momma's?

I know for myself I had to fly once after being sick and I bought these awesome ear plugs that you put in before take off and leave in until you are leveled out. Then you put them in again before descent

They worked great- they equalize the pressure.

I think they make a children's version too.

Let me see if I can find the name.

Thank you! I will check my CVS today to see if I can find them. My DH could use them too.

they are in the eye drop section, bottom shelf. i buy them in bulk on amazon. 1 pair is good for 1 round trip flight.

Re: Mild Congestion and Flying

My DD managed to get a cold twice right before flights. Both times she was fine. The second time, however, i gave her the tiniest dose of childrens benadryl just to dry things up a little bit. Obviously not everyone is comfortable with that, but DD was fine and I'd do it again. She was almost 3.

I've used those ear plugs before, but I couldn't get my toddler to let me put them in or leave them in.
