MIL VENT!
MIL is not a social person. DH never had friends over his house, never had birthday parties, holidays were always spent just with his brother, mom and dad and never any extended family. They are very, very isolated people.
Well, my mom is trying to plan my shower and she is trying to involve MIL so that she doesn't feel ignored but to also do it herself so that MIL doesn't need to feel bothered or overwhelmed with anything since MIL says being involved stressed her out.
So, my mom picked the place, paid for it herself, made the invitations, etc. All she asked MIL for was the guest list of who MIL wanted to have there. This was a big hassle and ordeal for her. Then my MIL prides herself on her cookies that she makes. So my mom was going to bring dessert (only a fruit platter is included at the restaurant) and my mom wanted to ask if she would like to bring a cookie platter. MIL told my mom "OF COURSE" BUT... on the phone to DH she was complaining that my mom asked her to make/bring cookies.
She is constantly complaining about my mom and I even though we try to cater to her and DH's family all of the time. It is so frustrating and upsetting.

uuughhh... it's so hard when MIL's make it difficult to get things done smoothly... and why be so 2 faced and say of course to your mom and then complain to your dh? 
So annoying.

I know! I wish she just declined. but she loves to do things just to turn around and either complain about it behind your back or make you feel guilty about it for the rest of your life!!
She also complained about all of the "fancy" stuff on our registry.... the boppy pillow, which she thought was a fancy neck pillow for the baby.

I think its a MIL's job to be annoying! I dont know 1 woman who doesnt complain about their mil! Lol
It took my mother over a month to get a guest list from my mil. A month! My mother had to constantly tell her she needed to order the invitations... I mean how hard is it to make a list of fam and friends?! My mother made her list in 2 days... I made mine in 1!
Its like they love to torture us!
My aunt is like your mil! She offers her help or to make things for people (she knits) then complains the whole time about doing it! Lol

Wow, your mom did all the work planning for your shower and paid for it, and all your MIL was asked to do was bake cookies and she had the nerve to complain about it???? I"m sorry you and your mom have to put up with that.

I know my situation may be rare, but I want to share it to give you some hope  My dh's mom has passed, but we tried to include his dad's new wife the same way (he remarried when dh was in his mid-20s, but she always complained that she didn't have a motherly role in his & BILs lives). She was the same way during planning & very publicly complained that my mom only included her for their $$ - which totally wasn't the case. Anyways, once my ds was born the situation did a complete 180 and our relationship has been wonderful ever since. I think that DS melted her heart! She's now very friendly with my mom (we all even vacation together!) & she's a model MIL...I hope that your LO has the same effect
