Re: Michele31 - BM ?
I am almost positive if you warmed it then it goes by the use in 1 hour rule.

Re: Michele31 - BM ?
The official rule is no.
That is why I stopped warming Molly's bottles. If it is not warmed i put it back in the frig and used it again.
One way to prevent waste, which IMO physically hurt to pour bm down the drain, is to make 2oz bottles only, until you are SURE the baby will eat more.

This is what I do for most feedings. You can always add more.

Re: Michele31 - BM ?
I have heated up more than I needed and then used it later, I don't really think this is a big deal, it's not a contamination issue, i am on baby #3 and have always done it this way. What is the issue of re-heated BM? There are no safety/nutritonal concerns, just use it within the next 24 hrs.

Re: Michele31 - BM ?
The problem is I had SEVERAL bottles in the freezer for the rare occasion that we go out...but I've been using them to mix his cereal this week so I had to warm them to thaw them AND my pump broke on Monday so I can't pump until I get it back so I HAD to use those bottles...I'm so mad!

Re: Michele31 - BM ?
Your pump broke? Medela overnighted me a new pump when my broke. You can also hand express a small amount for cereal.
Take out a bottle/bag of BM and put it in the frig the night before you need it. It will thaw naturally. Then pour out what you need to warm.
Also when you pump you can put the bm into a sterilized ice cube tray, put freezer wrap then foil. Pop out small cubes for your cereal instead. That will really help cut down on waste.
